Ohio State recruiting: State Secrets - Buckeyes looking to flip Michigan DB commit

With National Signing Day right around the corner, the Buckeyes are trying to add a current Wolverine pledge to the fold.
UM commit gets Bucks offer
Ohio State is still looking to add some talent in the secondary for the 2016 recruiting class and it seems like two more is the expectation. Coming into Wednesday, it was '16 ATH Jordan Fuller and '16 CB Damar Hamlin as the two main prospects that the Buckeyes were in pursuit of. That changed as the day went along when Ohio State sent out an offer to '16 DB Chris Evans, a Michigan commit -- and he is now right in the thick of things when it comes to possible Buckeyes when NSD 2016 comes to a conclusion.
Evans certainly is not a brand new name on the Ohio State radar. The Buckeyes previously showed interest in the four-star prospect out of Ben Davis (IN), led by cornerbacks coach/special teams coordinator Kerry Coombs. In fact, the 5'11, 186-pounder attended Friday Night Lights back in mid-June of 2015 in hopes of landing a scholarship from the Scarlet and Gray.
If head coach Urban Meyer and Ohio State can pull off the flip of Evans --which at this point, I believe they will -- it would give them two prospects from Indiana that are ranked as top five players in the state with the other being '16 WR Austin Mack of Bishop Luers (IN).
Mayden an option again?
At one point last year, it seemed as if '16 CB Jared Mayden of Sachse (TX) would undoubtedly be a member of the Buckeyes' 2016 class. However, those claims quickly quieted when the four-star prospect announced his pledge to the Oregon Ducks.
On Wednesday though, Mayden announced his decommitment from the program. The 6'1, 190-pounder didn't disclose his exact reasoning but it's fair to believe that the changes on the coaching staff were a big reason. With that being said, it will be interesting to see if Ohio State tries to get back in the race for the lone star state prospect. For now, it seems to be Florida State who is in prime position to be the beneficiary of the news.
Pryor headed to IMG Academy
Back in July, Ohio State received a major commitment when fringe five-star safety Isaiah Pryor of the 2017 cycle announced his pledge to the Buckeyes. The 6'2 190-pounder was a member of Archer (GA) in Lawrenceville but that isn't where he will be finishing his high school career.
According to Tom Loy of 247Sports.com, Pryor will be transferring to IMG Academy (FL) to play his senior season prior to his arrival in Columbus. This is not an unfamiliar path Pryor is taking, as it seems more and more prospects do it each year. It's worth mentioning that current Buckeye commit Tyler Gerald made the same move for his final year of high school. However, that move did not work out due to an injury and Gerald ultimately came back to his original school.
