Ohio State recruiting: State Secrets - OSU Quarterback recruiting starting to take shape

Are things beginning to look clearer as to who Ohio State will take at quarterback in this recruiting cycle?
The quarterback recruiting carousel became a little more clear on Tuesday when Kyle Allen announced his plans to transfer to Houston.

Ohio State was in contact with Allen throughout the bowl season and Allen was even on hand to take in some of Ohio State's practices while they were in Arizona. With Allen now officially out of the picture for the second time in his career, it all comes down to Dwayne Haskins or Tylin Oden for the Buckeyes. Haskins is the clear-cut Plan A recruit. He has all the tools to excel at the next level. He questions how the Buckeyes plan to use him, as he wants to develop into an NFL starting quarterback and doesn't want to take 20 hits per game at the college level. It seems that Ohio State and Haskins hit it off during his last official visit, but they are still awaiting word on where he'll land. Haskins is currently committed to Maryland.
On the other hand, Tylin Oden, a Louisville commit, is being recruited by the Buckeyes as well. It's safe to assume that if Haskins decides to not be in this class, that spot will go directly to Oden. Oden is a 6'5, 3-star dual threat prospect who holds 12 offers. Ohio State has not yet given him an official offer due to the circumstances that surround the whole situation. Oden, though not entirely developed like Haskins, has the ability to become a good quarterback at the next level as he possesses a better running ability than Haskins does. Ohio State will end up with one of these two quarterbacks, but it's not looking like we'll know anything for sure until we get closer to National Signing Day.
Army Bowl Practices Underway
With the Army All-American games looming and practices going on every day, a couple of Ohio State commits are standing out. First, defensive end Jonathon Cooper has had himself some good practices thus far and continued it during Tuesday's session. Speed off the line of scrimmage is one of his best abilities and he'll challenge for playing time next fall as a freshman at what will be Ohio State's deepest position in 2016.

Austin Mack is another guy who is continuing to make noise each and every day. According to reports, Mack has shown big-play ability while demonstrating quick, crisp routes during one-on-one time. Like Cooper, Mack will challenge for playing time next year, but probably has a better chance at getting on the field early because of the uncertainty that surrounds the wide receiver position.
