The Buckeyes miss out on four-star WR Sam Bruce, but with National Signing Day just over a week away, recruiting never stops at Ohio State.

Ohio State missed out on an elite WR recruit yesterday, when Sam Bruce reaffirmed his commitment to Miami. The decision didn't come as a big surprise, as the four-star WR felt strongly about Miami early on in his recruitment process, verbally committing to the Hurricanes in 2014. It wasn't until recently that he decided to open up his recruitment, and he reached a final three of Ohio State, South Carolina and Miami, where he never actually decommitted from.

With his last visit to Columbus in October of 2015, the Ohio State recruiting staff's interest in the 5'8, 180-pound WR grew rapidly in the last few weeks. Twice this month, coaches from Ohio State traveled to Florida to visit Bruce, including a visit from the big man himself, Urban Meyer, last week.

Missing out on Bruce is a definite loss; a player of his caliber at a skill position is always beneficial. However, Ohio State is not in a panic after losing out on Bruce. In fact, it is far from it.

The Buckeyes already have two WR commitments in the 2016 class in four-stars Austin Mack and Binjimen Victor. Both look to have the athletic ability to succeed at the college level, and could become a dynamic duo at the position. The Buckeyes are also the favorite to land the No. 1 WR of the 2017 class, Trevon Grimes, and are in the top ten for five-star '17 WR Donovan Peoples-Jones.

Fuller sets decision date

One of the Buckeyes' most important recruits left in the 2016 class is DB Jordan Fuller. It is no secret the Buckeyes are interested in the four-star recruit out of Westwood, NJ. Monday, Fuller made it known over Twitter that he would be announcing his decision Feb. 1, just two days before National Signing Day.

This Wednesday will be busy for Fuller, as he will have in-home visits with Ohio State, Michigan and Notre Dame, as reported by 247Sports. Jim Harbaugh will have the first chance to talk with Fuller, followed by Brian Kelly. Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes will have the last chance to sway the young man. Whether or not it will be better to be first or last will be revealed a week from today.

The above three schools are believed to be the top three contenders for the 6'2, 196-pounder.

Coaches visit 2 elite D recruits

With less than two weeks until National Signing Day, the Buckeye recruiting staff is constantly working. Yesterday they traveled South to recruit two highly regarded juniors.

Buckeye coach Greg Schiano traveled to Grand Prairie, Texas on Monday to visit five-star safety Jeffrey Okudah. Currently looked at as the top-rated safety of his class, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Okudah has been highly interested in the Buckeyes throughout his recruitment process. In October of 2015, he went as far to say that the Buckeyes were the leader of the schools he was interested in.

Schiano wasn't the only Buckeye coach in Texas, as Luke Fickell traveled to Plano to visit Anthony Hines. As it stands the four-star ILB is heralded as the top of his position for the 2017 class, but the Buckeyes are not a front-runner in his recruitment. Fickell's visit was the first contact Ohio State has had with Hines in more than a year, but given that Hines still has a year of high school left, the Buckeyes still have plenty of time to pursue the 6'3, 230-pounder.

Bosa talks family, obstacles

Arguably Ohio State's most important, and easily the most recognizable recruit of the 2016 class, DE Nick Bosa is looking to come into Ohio State and just like his brother Joey Bosa, take down anything that gets in his way. In the newest addition to Scout.com's #Get2TheGame series, Bosa says that his dream is to take football as far as he can.

Nick Bosa explains in the video that Joey has been an example for him to follow. He explains how he will learn from both his brother's successes but also from his failures. Nick has the athletic ability to be a star at Ohio State and this video shows that he also has the personality needed to become a leader.

Buckeyes included in 4-star DT's top 4

Defensive tackle has been a position of need for Ohio State in this year's recruiting class and the Buckeyes have been on the losing end of the decisions for multiple highly-rated recruits. With four-star Malik Barrow already committed in this class, the Buckeyes missed out on both Rashard Lawrence and Antwuan Jackson to LSU and Georgia, respectively. However, it looks like the Buckeyes will have one final chance at landing a talented DT to line up next to Barrow.

Four-star DT Keyshon Camp was a late addition to this year's recruiting class. With a scholarship offered to him just hours before the Buckeyes missed out on Lawrence, the Buckeyes initially appeared to be making a last-ditch effort to salvage the position. However, this past weekend Camp decided to decommit from USC and open up his recruitment. After speaking with Camp, Scout.com believes he has narrowed it down to Ohio State, Michigan, Missouri and Pittsburgh.

Camp will be taking a mid-week official visit to Missouri this week and was actually in the middle of a visit at Pittsburgh when he announced his decision to decommit from USC. Camp has also taken a visit to Michigan's campus, leaving the Buckeyes as the only one of the four he has yet to visit.

Camp will likely announce on National Signing Day, February 3.

Parting Shots:

  • Matthew Muterspaw, a 6'7, 285 lb. OT committed to Ohio State Monday as a preferred walk on. Muterspaw is an Ohio native and also had a PWO offer from Michigan.
  • Class of 2017 Four-star DT Fred Hansard will be taking an official visit to Ohio State this weekend. He seems to be excited for the visit.
