WOMEN'S ROWING CONTINUES TO DOMINATE

The fourth-ranked women's rowing team won nine of ten races this weekend at the Clemson Invitational. Finishing with 130 points, the Buckeyes earned the Invitational Championship. The result follows on the heels of similarly dominant victories in recent weeks against teams such as Yale, Harvard and Virginia.

Following the sixth consecutive Big Ten Championship on Sunday, the Ohio State women’s rowing team received an automatic bid to the 2018 NCAA Championships on May 25-27 at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Fla., the NCAA Division I Women’s Rowing Committee announced on Tuesday.

No. 4 Ohio State is coming off an unprecedented sweep of all seven races at the Big Ten Championships to claim its ninth conference title overall, garnering all 192 possible points and marking the first time a school has won all seven races since the adoption of the current format in 2013.

Ohio State is one of 22 teams selected to appear at the event, with 11 automatic bids and 11 at-large selections. Teams qualifying for the championship are required to field two boats of eight rowers and one boat of four rowers. OSU is one of five teams from the Big Ten selected to compete at NCAA Championships, and is the highest seeded from the conference in all three sections. Michigan, Iowa, Wisconsin and Indiana will also represent B1G rowing at the regatta.

The highest seeded boat for the Buckeyes is the 1V4 at No. 3, which is 32-0 overall this season and 10-0 in races. The 2V8 is seeded fourth, owning a record of 31-1 overall and 9-1 in races. The fifth-seeded 1V8 rounds it out, also with a 31-1 overall record and 9-1 in races.
