Now in the month of June, Ohio State's staff is in full recruiting mode in search of the nation's best for the 2017 season (and beyond)

Summer is officially here. Ohio State's focus has shifted fully to recruiting for 2017 and beyond. In these few months before the 2016 season begins, the Buckeyes staff will be holding and attending endless camps with the intent to sell their pitch to a countless number of recruits. The summer always exhibits the opportunity for commitments due to visits and Urban Meyer hopes to see nothing but the same. The top ranked recruiting class for 2016 may just get even better in the near future.

OSU rings the Bell

New Jersey is a state that has been good to Ohio State over the years. The Garden State is known for producing great football talent and the Buckeyes love to be contenders for many of their top kids. Yesterday, the pursuit of New Jersey athletes by Ohio State continued as an offer was sent out to Markquese Bell (Bridgeton, NJ / Bridgeton).

Bell stands at 6'3, 195 pounds and checks in as the nation's 16th best athlete according to 247sports. With 17 current offers, Bell's recruitment may begin heating up even more as a top program in the country such as Ohio State has taken notice of his skills.

Even though Urban Meyer and staff have secured commitments from top athletes in the 2017 class, the late offer to Bell shows that something has sparked interest inside the Buckeye control center (aka the Woody Hayes Athletic Center).

Look for the Buckeyes to try and get Bell to campus this summer for an unofficial visit.

Eskridge sets OSU visit date

Tampa, Florida native and Jefferson High School 2018 prospect Jermaine Eskridge (Tampa, FL / Jefferson) took to Twitter yesterday to announce his summer visit plans. Making the list, Ohio State will host Eskridge on July 1.

With impressive size, standing at 6'3, 180 pounds the current 4-star already boasts an incredible list of 42 offers including Ohio State. The 4-star prospect according to 247sports has no rush in making a decision, but the Florida Gators and Kentucky Wildcats are the two schools who own predictions on the 247sports crystal ball.

Combined with his summer's camp list for and another two full seasons to be played in his prep career, Eskridge's recruitment is sure to have its share of changes over time. The Buckeyes certainly want to be a factor for Jermaine and July's visit could be a great step in that direction.

Hines has big visit next week

The nation's top ranked inside linebacker according to 247sports, Anthony Hines (Plano, TX / Plano East), woke up thinking about the Buckeyes and then announced yesterday via his Twitter account that he has plans to head to Columbus next week for an Ohio State unofficial visit.

Any visit is key, but for this top ranked linebacker to head to Ohio from Texas on his own dime shows great interest and is certainly worth looking at. At 6'3', 220 pounds, Hines has the intangibles to be a force in the middle of the defense at the next level. With how well Ohio State's defensive coordinator, Luke Fickell has developed linebackers, Hines certainly has taken notice and looks to what to learn more about what the Buckeyes have to offer.

As things currently stand, Oklahoma leads the way in predictions on the 247sports crystal ball, but Ohio State may have an idea on how to become a serious contender starting with next week's visit.

Myers heading to Oregon

It's no secret how much talent is on the current 2017 Ohio State recruiting class list. Ranked as the top class by every major recruiting service, the Buckeyes are flexing their muscles showing their success in the recruiting world. Yesterday, the headlines were once again on the 2017 class as Nike's premier football camp, The Opening, extended an invitation to Josh Myers (Miamisburg, OH / Miamisburg), the top ranked player in Ohio and current Buckeye commit. With the invitation to Myers, Ohio State now will be sending eight of their 13 commits to Eugene, OR for this elite camp opportunity.

Congrats to OL Josh Myers of Miamisburg (Ohio) on being invited to #TheOpening Finals! #Final5 #GOTOPEN pic.twitter.com/YNjOxBsDSI

Wade and Meyer talks

Lamont Wade (Clairton, PA / Clairton) is the seventh best cornerback in the country according to 247sports and his affinity for Ohio State over time has been no secret. The Buckeyes have a long-standing relationship with Wade and throughout his recruitment, Ohio State continues to be at the top.

There were reports in the past that Wade and Ohio State hit a buffer in the idea that he would not be able to enroll early at Ohio State if he committed due to a lack of space. However, as things currently stand, Wade is a player that would be a must take for Urban Meyer. Last night, Wade took to twitter to give a little insight in how he truly feels about Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes. Ohio State will be there until the end for Wade without question.

Remember watching Coach Meyer and Tim Tebow as a little kid havn Florida posters all on my wall, Now Im textn Coach Meyer n conversing...Wow
