Ohio State Men's Soccer (Official Thread)

Found the gaucho board if anyone is interested in some good soccer talk. Sorry, but I draw the line at posting the link. I'm not going over there to actually discuss the sport. Should we win tomorrow, I will check back and see if there's a meltdown.

Gaucho Sports Talk - Message Board - ezboard.com

Note to the admins: they do have a very nice feature pinned to the top of the board which keeps running tabs on the current national rankings of their sports. I like that a lot.

I was obviously referring to the ORD guy not you, you seem to be a pretty knowledgable fan, but he totally disregarded your team as mediocre. About the 6 vs. 7 we had one of our seniors get injured in the 3rd game of the season and he missed the rest of the year so I don't consider him as losing a starter since he was gone most of the season and the entire playoff run. And to ORD, we won the championship last year in St. Louis when it was 20 degrees and they had just cleared the snow off the field, so I'm not worried about the weather, we have already shown we can play in it.

I meant to say that the program has historically been mediocre, and one great season is not going to immediately change the program's following among students and alumni. I hope that the program continues to build on this season. Personally, I think the turnaround is great, as I root for Ohio State to do well in everything from futbol to physics.

ORD’s post didn’t load the last time I refreshed the page, so thinking your comment was addressed to me was my fault I apologize.

Congratulations on last years success, as well as this years, I hope we put it to an end tomorrow though.

Yes, but have you ever played in bad weather with 85 drunk Ohio State students cheering against you?:wink2:

Come on ORD, it?s only going to be me and ten of my friends, 85 is getting your hopes up.

Damn it, man. Then each of you needs to do the drinking of 8.

gaucho boy was such an ass, I might actually tune in to the radio broadcast on the interweb tubes tomorrow morning (9am Chicago time, right?) while I'm having Sunday morning breakfast.

If any of you have been to any games lately, have you noticed the skill of Espinosa?? He is a real footballer if you ask me. Sure Balc can put up statistics and Lachem is an incredibly effective in the net, but I think Roger has the most potential as an MLS player because of his quickness. When he figures out what to do with the ball consistently he will be the best player on the field. Maybe even national team calibur.

Maybe, and I?d love for that to be true, but to be honest I just don?t see us as a great team until Blume is gone. Balc is the reason we are a good team right now and not because of his stats. If Balc hadn?t come to Ohio State we wouldn?t have Latchem or Brunner either. We lose a lot of leadership and skill with those two leaving in addition to Balc, right now Balc makes this team go, he?ll be in MLS next year so will Brunner.

Hey guys, another UCSB student here. I'd just like to say I hope to have a good game tommorow for both teams. We're a school without a football team and in a mid-major conference, so that helps our attendance for soccer, but a lot of us at UCSB wish that soccer had more respect among college sports regardless. I really do hope a lot of you angered by ucsbfan's post do tune in to the game tomorrow; that's kind of the point, trash talking among both sides to build up the hype for the game tomorrow. At UCSB, soccer is supported extremely well (we'll probably have the highest average attendance of all schools this year), and we sincerely hope that other schools around the country will support their teams better. So tune in tomorrow, or better yet, attend the game, and hope you guys are prepared to lose

I’ll be there, but don’t be annoyed if I don’t show up right away after the game. I have a couple other things I’m doing afterward and have to get home after.

Ordinarily I’d try to be more hospitable, but I’m starting to ware down from partying after the football games and I really want to get up early for the soccer game tomorrow so I think I’m going to crash now. Well after the Washington Hawaii game ends; I’ve been told I have to watch the end of that first.
