Ohio State The Nation's Most Profitable Athletic Dept.

ORD_Buckeye

Wrong glass, Sir.
Since it's football money that's driving this, I'll put it here. And since it's the feds compiling the data, they're demanding that the private universities submit data.

Look at Michigan barely squeaking out a one million dollar profit on $132M in revenue. It also looks like Patterson managed to unfuck the Longhorn's finances. Too bad they fired him for not kissing booster ass.

I'm not sure if these figures include subsidies though. I've never heard that this many athletic departments are fully self-sustaining.

And oh yeah, where's Ohio's BCS school?

Must include state subsidies and athletic fees in tuition. The last I saw this data was a few years back and only about 5 universities made a profit when subsidies weren't included. Buckeyes, Texas, bama were in there but don't know who else was. Private weren't included.

All that Coke they sold is not high margin stuff. They have to compete with Walmart on that.

Also, they may have annualized the RichRod fines they had to pay.

And the Hoke buyout ... how many barbeques did he have left on his contract?

Is there a reference link for this? People are asking me. I am having trouble running it down in google.

Purdue's numbers are going to piss off some folks.

Yep. They're sitting on tidy profits each year instead of putting it back into their programs, it seems. If they put even a million extra a year into their FB team they would probably improve dramatically with better facilities (namely that god-awful playing field and mid-major, at best, stadium).

Remember that is just a single year number. It's entirely possibly they socked away some money over a few years for some reason or another without it being a long term trend.

Correctamundo, Ringo. If I were Purdue, I'd have a hell of a rainy day fund built up because I'm Purdue. It's gonna rain a lot, and they're not going to be pennies from heaven.

Unless they're in Wisconsin. Then it will be raining pennies and marshmallows.
