The Buckeyes could be getting some additional depth at tight end and special teams.

Space on Ohio State's football roster is tight, and will be tight for the next several months. But that doesn't mean that the Buckeyes aren't looking for opportunities to add depth at important positions. It appears that one position group could be getting a talent infusion very soon.

According to Bucknuts, Ohio State is expected to add Chase Hounshell from Notre Dame as a graduate transfer tight end once Hounshell finishes up his last semester with the Irish. Hounshell reportedly would be joining as a preferred walk-on, so he would not count against Ohio State's scholarship count.

Hounshell confirmed the report with this tweet:

I can't thank ND enough but I am excited to announce I will be transferring to THE Ohio State University! Go Bucks! pic.twitter.com/cVR5YQ2P3t

Hounshell, who is originally from Mentor, Ohio, was a three-star prospect out of high school that courted offers from programs like Florida, Michigan State and Wisconsin, before deciding to head to Notre Dame. In fact, he even has some history with Urban Meyer.

Originally a defensive lineman, Hounshell switched to tight end after missing multiple years due to injury. He appeared in seven games as a true freshman defensive lineman, and another 13, including three starts, as a tight end.

Marcus Baugh is almost certainly entrenched as a starting tight end for Ohio State, but there's very little experience behind him at the moment. Also fighting for playing time will be redshirt freshman A.J. Alexander, and blue-chip true freshmen Jake Hausmann and Luke Farrell. Another experienced option to provide leadership and depth, either at tight end or on special teams, can only be a good thing for Ohio State.
