With room for roughly 7 more recruits in the Buckeyes' top-rated 2017 recruiting class, it looks like the coaches are trying to build the backfield.

Ohio State already has one running back commit in its '17 recruiting class in four-star Todd Sibley. However, the Buckeye recruiting staff seems to be trying to add at least one more back to the group.

Visiting Ohio State Monday was four-star RB Trey Sermon. A 6'1, 206 lb. RB out of Marietta, Georgia, Sermon currently sits at No. 7 at his position in the 247Sports Composite rankings and is looked at as one of the top 100 players of the entire class. Also being heavily recruited by his home-state school, Georgia, the Buckeyes will have some heavy competition in his recruitment. Holding more than 25 offers from schools across the nation, including powerhouses Oregon, Alabama, Auburn, Michigan State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma and plenty of others, Urban Meyer and co. will have to continue to intrigue Sermon to earn his commitment.

Because of his size, Sermon rarely goes down after first contact with a defender. Sermon uses this size advantage to break out of the backfield and then has surprising straight-line speed, allowing him to break runs for long gains, somewhat reminiscent of former Buckeye RB Ezekiel Elliott.

Ohio State is currently seen as the favorite to land Sermon's services, but with a year left until he has to officially sign, anything is possible.

Chad Simmons of Scout.com has reported that Sermon will be continuing his visit through today.

Benjamin to visit Ohio State in March

Sermon isn't the only RB in next year's class the Buckeyes are trying to impress. Eno Benjamin announced that he has scheduled a visit to Ohio State for March 9, one day after visiting the Buckeyes' arch-rival Michigan Wolverines.

Benjamin is another four-star RB but until recently, Meyer and the Ohio State staff haven't shown much interest in his recruitment. The Buckeyes have yet to offer him a scholarship, but if next month's visit goes well, it would not be surprising to see one follow soon afterwards.

Benjamin is slightly shorter than Sermon, but the two are almost identical in size. He has experience lining up at the QB position in wildcat formations, so he's more versatile than your traditional RB.

The Buckeyes have plenty of work to do in Benjamin's recruitment if they are serious in trying to add him to the class. As of now, Texas and Texas Tech are looked at as the front-runners for the Texas native's services.

Buckeye-born SF to visit Ohio State today

Andre Wesson will be in attendance for tonight's Ohio State basketball game versus Michigan. It would be safe to assume it will not be the first Buckeye game Wesson, a three-star small forward in the 2016 class, has seen in person, as he has Scarlet (and Gray) in his blood.

The top rated unsigned senior in Ohio, Andre Wesson, will be taking an unofficial visit to Ohio State on Tuesday for the Michigan game.

Wesson's father, Keith, played center for the Buckeyes back in the mid-1980's and his younger brother Kaleb verbally committed to Ohio State last year. Tonight's game should produce an exciting environment for Wesson to witness as the Buckeyes not only will be taking on arch-rival Michigan, but former Buckeye star Evan Turner will have his jersey retired at halftime.

The 6'5, 195-lb. SF has received attention from a few other schools, including Richmond and Wisconsin, but Thad Matta and the Buckeyes should be the all-around favorite, despite a visit to the Spiders this past weekend.

Ohio State has been able to receive verbal commitments from multiple bigs in the next two classes, so adding a player at Wesson's position would be ideal.
