Game Thread Ohio State vs Army, 09/16/17 @ 4:30 ET (FOX)

I think you're giving Army a little too much credit. You keep pointing out the two Navy games, but seemingly want to refuse to acknowledge the fact that Navy is generally quite a bit better team overall than Army. As pointed out in Army's 2 games against "Power 5" schools last year (Just consider Notre Dame power 5) they scored 12 total points against 2 teams that went 4-8

I don't think anyone is going to proclaim this team "fixed" for beating Army, not matter how much they beat them by. This team is a work in progress but I think you're being a bit too pessimistic here when it comes to Army.
the same Navy program that Army beat last year? People seem to either have close games with these teams or blow them out. Hopefully I'm wrong but I don't see us blowing them out.

I don't care it was their first time winning in like 15 years the point is they're a better program then they were. Good enough and with a difficult enough scheme to give us trouble.

A bit too much “Sky is falling” rhetoric for me with this outlook. The Bucks got downed by a kid who will be playing on Sundays and is one of the best QBs in the NCAA, but even he was held without a TD to his name in the first half.

Urban losing 31-16 to a quality program with a star quarterback is just a hair different than getting beat by Army at home, so let’s wait to see how things play out before acting like this is the worst Buckeye team in the last decade.

Army isn’t getting the W this Saturday.

You need to take a closer look at who they played last year

Notre Dame was the best team they played talent wise (though that ND team was a mess) and they lost 44-6

2 of their wins came against the FCS. They lost to Buffalo (2-10) and went 1-1 against North Texas (5-8)

Their best wins came against Temple (in week 1) and Wake Forest (a 7-6 ACC team) They beat Navy by 4, Navy had to start their backup QB due to injury.

Not exactly a blowing away resume.

Now consider they lost their 3 best defensive players, logic would say their defense is bound to decline. That defense last year still gave up 44 to a train wreck Notre Dame squad.

Army might be somewhat improved, but they are still nowhere near the threat you are making them out to be.

I never said anything about losing... I have said we will win a number of times but I'm simply saying we will not win big IMO. 38-24 is what I'm saying with OSU winning. I just don't get the vast number of people predicting us to be throwing for 400 yards on 23 of 24 passing and how we are just going to somehow know how to stop the triple option.

We will win but it'll be closer then any of us want IMO.

Fair enough... we will see.

We might only score in the 30s due to them taking time off the clock, but i'd be shocked if they scored in the 20s. Considering their performances last year against P5 schools and that they only put 21 on Buffalo last week.

I personally would rather see us run all over them than trying to get cute and pass a bunch of times.

I think Oklahoma might be better this year than what some of us are willing to give them credit for, at this point i'd be shocked if they lost in the regular season, except maybe to Oklahoma State in Stillwater. Yea this team has a way to go, but it's a far way away from the sky falling.

They won't lose to Army but we won't know a damn thing more about them after the game than we did going into it. In fact,we won't know shit about this team until they play Penn State

In the meantime, their last 3 games they have been poleaxed by two good teams and struggled for 3/4 of the game against IU so I personally will remain dubious of any "turnarounds" until I see them do it against a legit team.

They can take herbstriet, twitter, prima donna recruits, any flavor of "we just have to get to work and figure this out" quotes and just stuff them straight up their asses.

They had 9 months to figure shit out.

I haven't been this disappointed in a coaching staff and apathetic toward games since 2008. Just like in 2008, I am done with buying into the bullshit. Beat someone of merit or shut the fuck up.

All January we hear "this can never happen again" and it happens again in fucking September.

Sorry for the rant but I'm still pissed and likely to stay that way for quite some time

Army will not score 24 on this bunch. Four field goal attempts perhaps. Why would they would score more in the shoe than they did against Buffalo at home.

They had 9 months to figure [Mark May] out.
Burrow's injury three weeks ago might have thrown a wrench into the plans. He's never played against a defense as fast as OK, but if he had been eased into the scheme against Indiana, then seen the field versus Oklahoma, it would have been much more competitive. I think he definitely would have seen the field in the first half against Indiana and would have impressed and earned more playing time.

I thought it was odd that Meyer hinted a few days ago that JT is better at running the offense than Burrow. But has anyone seen any evidence that Burrow lacks the ability to effectively run the offense?

But the defensive play against the Sooners was mind-boggingly bad in the second half. Few first half first downs might have made a lot of guys on D tired in the second.
