Game Thread Ohio State vs Army, 09/16/17 @ 4:30 ET (FOX)

Scoring on six of eight "true" possessions (I'm not counting the ninth possession where Haskins rocketed us down the field only to having to take a knee), including five TDs and 513 yards (again, not counting the 73 yards on the Haskins drive), pretty much is indeed moving the ball down the field. Hard to move the ball more when your opposition has a 37/23 minute TOP advantage...
I get ya... but it's army. As I said I won't budge again regarding this offense with JT until I see us do anything that isn't the result of us just being flat out better. Today we won because we were flat out better. We didn't get better today on offense IMO.

I agree but then you get him into the game a drive earlier... we played ARMY and couldn't get our back ups into the game until 6 minutes left in the game and until we were up 31

There's a difference between couldn't and didn't want to.

Look, I appreciate your opinion. Seriously. But it's clear that the staff, barring injury, is behind JT. You can bitch all you want, but at the end of the day, there's more than one reason we're posting in a forum and not setting the two deep.

While I do appreciate your opinion, should it start to interfere with my ability to enjoy this place, I'm going to put you on ignore until next year. My life is too short and busy to have one of the few self indulgences such as BP is to have it fucked up by ongoing arm-chair coaching.

It's really not a personal thing, aside from wanting to enjoy this place without the continuous negative Nancy crap.

Mind you, there's a significant part of me that agrees with your points... but seriously... bucknuts is the place for ongoing diatribes without bringing the stats to support the assertions. Not BP... never has and hopefully never will be.

I implore you to consider your posts as though they were coming from a poster from from an opposing team and ask, 'would we tolerate that here?' If the answer is yes, then by all means... keep it up. If not, please bring some facts and stats to back your opinion so that we can have an intelligent discourse.

TL;DR: Get a grip.

Put me on ignor then... haven't broke any rules and as I said leading up to the game i was looking for a few things to show promise and didn't see it.

I kinda know what I say doesn't matter and JT will be the guy. I will cheer like crazy Oct. 28th but when we are showing the sexy buckeye girl smash her face and we are saying "fuck this" I just won't have to because I've seen it coming five weeks away.

I refuse to take please in having our starters in against army with 7 minutes to go in the game.

See ya for spring ball then.

As evidence of how light the convo is I'd say this went about as expected with not much of an answer of how we can expect to look for our future slate.

I'll give our guys this... We performed better then I thought defensively. I predicted 38 points for us which is what we scored but I predicted 24 for Army which we obviously crushed.

So defensively I'm happy we got back to OSU football. Offensively I'm sitting on my hands tho

I felt the game plan was better today. They got the ball out of JTs hands and put it in our playmakers hands. The question becomes can they build the playbook up enough to keep a good team guessing without having JT drop back and make multiple reads.

They definitely worked alot on screens this week. JT was placing the passes in front of the receiver, which he hasn't done in years. Hopefully they can progress it to getting the ball in stride so it can be more dynamic.

There is still alot more they can build into the playbook. I'd like to see more hybrids in the backfield getting sweeps or handoffs. With the depth we have at RB I'd like to see more two back sets or at least a RB and a hybrid in the backfield. Were there any quick slant passes? I think the more we stretch the field horizontally and take the pressure off JT, hopefully the vertical game will come along. I think they are trying to make vertical plays more timing plays than ones that develop with multiple reads.

I think we played with much better tempo and rhythm today. JT was sharper with the majority of his throws. I saw some improvement today and it was a good day to build upon. Still need to work on the long ball for sure but we will have a number of games to improve and we will see a lot more of Haskins over the next month.

I think it was a so so performance today for JT. They tried to jump start JT with some easy throws which is great and then build off of it. Only problem was that once we tried to cash in on the benefits of our run game and the short pass game JT couldn't make them pay. Once their starting safety went down JT hit a few medium distance passes but the one to Baugh was really a poorly thrown pass behind him. The TD pass to Terry was a good throw however and it was good for him to end on that note.

Again only reason why i was so upset after the game was we waited far too long to get Haskins a feel. The little we saw was startling different when it comes to velocity and confidence. Hopefully JT can build off this and hopefully we can give our back up any work just in case we need to make a change if JT struggles October 28th.

I really want to be able to say JT looked better today, but he didn't in the areas that have been the biggest concern. Still several missed intermediate and long throws, late throws and he just isn't synced up with the receivers still. Great to put one in the win column, but after watching Clemson, Bama and a few of the other top programs today, it was even more apparent that OSU with JT at QB, playing like he has in the last several games, is not a legit playoff contender. JT isn't the only issue, but he has been a glaring one.

Serious question - Is the general consensus that OSU fans are content with sticking with JT, going to a mid-level bowl game and focusing on next year with Haskins? Or are there people who genuinely believe that with JT at the helm this team can repeat the magic of 2014? I'm not asking this to be cynical. After all, you can't win a NC every year. I'm genuinely curious.
