Game Thread Ohio State vs Cincinnati - 09/07/19, 12:00PM (ABC)

If anyone has time, go back and watch that UCLA/UC game this week. It will help calm your fears some.

  • UC defense looks like it is the same front FAU was in (3-4) and UCLA put the QB under center and was running well at first. You just can't over emphasize how bad the UCLA QB is.
  • I also would go too far with the 2014 VT thing because the UC offense still has to play the OSU defense. Their primary back averaged 3.5 ypc vs UCLA.
  • It will come down to how well the LB's and Bullet can spy the QB and cover the TE's. One could almost imagine the OSU defensive staff stayed in all that cover 3 to bait the UC offense into over reliance on the TE. We shall see, their TE's (especially #83) are good football players.
UC was in a dogfight, despite getting 4 TO's, with a woeful mob of disinterested guys who are led by a coach they don't like and a QB who had a QBR under 6.

Six.

They'll likely throw some exotic blitzes/stunts and such at the new OL and QB to confuse them but if OSU just comes out, keeps it simple and stays out of 3rd and longs they should be able to handle UC pretty well. I think the last 3 quarters vs FAU will help keep the line down for those interested in such things.

EDIT

My first guess at a line would be something like OSU-17

I'm with the others. Fickell won't want to come home and lay an egg and his players won't want to let him down. Add to this all of the "we're not little brother chip on the shoulder" crap. They will come into Columbus with two or three well-scripted series and some new wrinkles on defense. Don't be surprised to get a bit more of a game than the Buckeyes got from FAU. But, don't be surprised to see Cincy lay an egg because if it walks like a duck, and talks like a duck, it's a duck and the skill differential will be clear for everyone to see.

If the Buckeyes take the step up that I expect, then I expect something like 42-10.

Was about to say watch their game against UCLA. This score will be more lopsided than FAU. Quit playing after Q1

I think Coach Fickell will watch the game tapes and plan his game plan with what he saw worked for Fau. That means a harder game for us and we need to improve.
Well, I highly doubt the staff will leave Chase Young, Malik Harrison, Jordan Fuller, and Okudah on the sidelines if anything starts working for UC. Unless, of course, it’s 35-6 in the second half. Then maybe the staff will once again choose to not risk injury and/or gain younger players experience.

Juggalos and then Chicago's safety school back-to-back. What did I do to deserve such a shit sandwich. I'll be happy with a solid 3 td win...enough to establish our dominance like a good dry hump but no need to embarrass Fickell with balls deep penetration. Then, we let loose the dogs of war the following week and give Fredo (OH) a right proper rogering.
