Ohio State vs. Marshall (2004)

Ok, this may sound crazy, but tell me what you guys think. Since we are loaded at MLB and Frost is a very good prospect at DE, should we try D'Animal at TE. I mean, he is very fast for his size (6'5" I believe), he has a very, very good vertical, and he is very physical. Now I know D'Animal is playing better at MLB then the past two years, but with the Boar hunter and Kerr, we have the MLB depth to move D'Animal.

Maybe it is crazy, but has it been tried? I guess the big question is whether MDA has the hands to be a TE.

D'Andrea

I understand why you would want to see D'Andrea at tight end but there's just no way they'll take that kinda speed away from our Defense. I'd honestly like to see D'Andrea at end some more with Schlegal at middle backer. For one it will take away the run a bit more and on passing downs we could play a zone coverage because D'Andrea is good in Coverage. Or we could have him pin his ears back and go for the QB with his speed as well. Mike DA is a very diverse talent on Defense.

After the first two games, I'm not nearly as impressed with Schlegel as I thought I would be. He was exposed the first series against UC, when he showed that he couldn't cover. I think we'll see very little of the 3-4, but in obvious running situations we could see D'Andrea at the rush end spot. I also would like to see more rushing from Carpenter or D'Andrea from the outside, but I'm worried about what that does to our pass defense, especially with Fox out. I'd feel a hell of a lot better if our D-line would have showed up last week. Hopefully that was a fluke.

ABC analyst Terry Bowden was quoted as saying Ohio State had some holes in thier defense. I wondering if he was reffering to the Linebackers. Since I did not have a chance to see the game, I was wondering how A. J. Hawk played his position.

Frost has had a hamstring injury and therefore has not been able to compete for the TE job. Coach T made it clear that Frost would NOT return to DE. Hopefully he'll be ready to go this Saturday. It would be nice to see some three TE alignments.

MDA did play TE in High School but we have tons of depth at TE with Hamby, Nichol and Frost. Plus White Jr. plays an H-Back/TE role as well.

Furthermore, why would you take your STARTING MLB (who took 3 yrs. to grasp the Defense) and move him to TE the third game into his Junior season? A guy who is coming on and play a key role in our victory over Marshall last week? A guy who is vital to our 3-4 alignment. I don't understand the logic.

Oh well...

AnnArborBuck,

I'd consider moving if I were you. I think the contamination in the area is affecting your thinking.
