Game Thread Ohio State vs Maryland, 10/07/17 @ 4:00 ET (FOX)

In the opener against Indiana when he finally got college PT I think he went out there with nothing to lose and just rocketed the ball right to the receivers without any real concern. Now I think he sees himself as being more under the microscope with Burrow now healthy and as a threat to his being the #2 guy...he may be pushing it a little.

I honestly wonder what his effectiveness in practice is without JC. People can say how much they want Haskins in but Saunders makes him look phenomenal. I'm all for receivers blocking to help others and all but a possession receiver that can just catch the stuff thrown to him works as well.

Did Haskins play against Indy? Thought his debut was against Army

I was kind of joking about Saunders being the key to his success. I was kidding but it does look like he throws crazy balls to others but he throws just a perfect ball to JC.
That may be because Saunders actually runs the precise route he's supposed to.

Criticism of Haskins is hilarious. Does no one realize he's not on the field with the first team offense? I mean, Barrett is, and should be, clearly the starter, but Haskins and Burrow remain solid backups we can win games with.

OHIO STATE'S 62-14 WIN OVER MARYLAND IN 15 AMAZING GIFS

Let's take a journey through the GIFs of the game. To view the GIFs, hover on desktop or touch on your mobile device.

We pick up on Ohio State's first possession of the game. The Buckeyes, facing a 3rd-and-4, converted, thanks to this bullet from J.T. Barrett to Johnnie Dixon.

Four plays later, Barrett would finish the nine-play, 70-yard drive with a one-yard touchdown to put the Buckeyes up 7-0.

Ohio State would score on Maryland's first possession, too, thanks to this Nick Bosa sack, which led to a fumble scooped and returned 20 yards for a touchdown by linebacker Jerome Baker. 14-7, Buckeyes.

That two-touchdown lead would be short-lived, however, as Maryland's Ty Johnson returned the ensuing kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown. It would be one of many special teams blunders on the day for Ohio State.

The Buckeyes answered, immediately, though, going 70 yards in five plays, capped when Barrett found Binjimen Victor in the back of the end zone for an 8-yard touchdown.

I didn't catch the other stuff Gus said after the hit, as I was too busy celebrating and then saying they better not add targeting (dumbasses), so hearing this this morning was hilarious. I love Gus.

Anybody else catch him throw in a "Car-Dale Jones" towards the end of the game? Klatt said something about it being difficult to win with backup QB's, and Gus softly said it in reply. :slappy:

Don't be surprised if Oklahoma continues to be ranked above Ohio State next week.
I'd expect us to jump Michigan obviously, but I think OU will be one spot ahead of us based on the head-to-head. Unfortunately that head-to-head will haunt us until OU loses again. Voters seem to forget/refuse to acknowledge that teams improve over the course of the season and head-to-head results in the first few weeks mean not nearly what the voters think they do.

Wouldn't be shocked if OU drops next week too
