Ohio State vs. Maryland, Saturday, 12:00 PM, ESPN2

Actually, does anyone else remember last year when Loving was simply tearing it up on three's? Then he had to sit out three games, and when he came back, he was pouting (much like he did today). Believe me, it's hard to gallop down the court when you're behind, nothing you do goes in the hole and by the time you get to the other end, the other team has scored and they're coming back your way. Don't see a real leader on that team, period. Nobody really verbal, and no one that is willing to take the team on his shoulders. There were several players last year, but zero this year. My take on Mitchell is that he is not 'fitting' in the flow of the game. He looks like he breaks to the top of the key, just a bit late. Slides downpost, just a little late. Everything he does is not in sync with the rest of the team. Final item - when tOSU is playing badly, they run their weave and end up further from the basket, rather than closer to the free throw line. Maybe they get some solace in they are 'doing the right things', but it looks suspicious to me. Heck yes, give the kids not playing a chance to get some minutes, cannot hurt, and maybe will help. Oh well, that is why Thad makes $3 mill a year. He'll figure it out, or at least put a more presentable product on the court. The Buckeye intelligentsia won't tolerate a bad product. Go Bucks

I was expecting some disappointing games this season, even after the Kentucky win. I was thinking more of a loss to Rutgers than a blowout loss at Maryland, but still, it's the down of and ups & downs of a young team.

Tate seems to be the best candidate as a leader on this team. Giddens is a guy I could see becoming a leader once he gets some more experience and avoids foul trouble long enough to stay on the court.

Giddens could be speaking the truth. After all, how many times is OSU down 40 points in a Big Ten game? It is hard to recall games where they were getting beaten that badly. A lot of teams with less physically gifted athletes have managed to not get blown out that badly.

Since you did not watch the game by your own admission:sad: I guess I will have to tell you that the reason the margin was so great was because Ohio State played like they really did not want to be there and Maryland did not miss many shots in the first half. It was just a very poor effort by Ohio State. As many have mentioned, Loving needs to have something shoved up his ass (maybe Thad's shoe) to show a little more effort or I should say show some effort. Not much else to say except it was just a very poor performance by everyone. Do not know what Matta can say to get this team to play with some effort.
