Game Thread Ohio State vs Michigan State - 10/05/19, 7:30PM (ABC)

Do you see it as the game not having slowed down for him yet, or just not making decisions quickly enough?

Seems like he goes through phases of great indecision and then a few drives like in the 2nd Q he gets much more comfortable and commits quickly, leading to chunk plays and easy scores.

Not sure how much they ran hurry up in the 2nd half, but I think he'd benefit greatly from more of it. Especially early in the game and out of the half.

Overall, like you say, this is pretty amazing to see what he does and know he could probably be much better next year. Makes beautiful throws every game.

Too early to tell if its systemic, or if he is still adapting to our offense. There is certainly some inconsistency, because he looks amazing at times. And I can't see what he is seeing, maybe he is avoiding throwing some interceptions for all I know without the benefit of some Sunday film. Maybe its a little bit of both. I just think with our receiving corps, he's gotta be missing some reads. In any event, pretty happy with his play as we near near the halfway point of this year and he is only going to get better imo.

If we can forget about Fields for Heisman, can we say Dobbins for Heisman?
Maybe. However, of the last 19 Heisman winners, 16 have played QB and only 3 played RB.

QBs have a much higher profile in the pass happy world of modern CFB. Dobbins would have to do something truly remarkable to get himself into the mix (something like 2,000+ yards with maybe a 300-yard game along the way), especially with so many top QBs on potential playoff teams (Tua, Hurts, Burrow).

He's a typical young QB, so he panics a bit if the first look isn't open. Defers to his athleticism when he panics. This results in either jaw dropping plays, or spinning around going backwards and losing 15 yards. If they can get him to start climbing the pocket like Haskins did so well during the second half of last season, then look out.
