Game Thread Ohio State vs Michigan State - 10/05/19, 7:30PM (ABC)

Agree. The anticipation and windup is going to be Fields' biggest challenge against great defenses. I'm interested to see how Day plans for this game and how much passing Fields does early.

I'm pretty damn excited to see Cooper and Young stunt more often. Hopefully that'll get Lewerke's happy feet going.
Good call on the stunts. Sparty is weak at center and they've had a revolving door at LT this year. I expect to see a TE next to their LT to help out on pass plays, they'll also roll Lewerke to the right and try to get the ball out quickly. Stunts will have Young getting past the center and will confuse guys that are trying to double-team him as he's heading away from them.

Black alternates are the best. Full on VADER

That scene made an already really good movie into a great movie.

I am a little concerned with the line and narrative going into this game. Dantonio has not been on top of his game recently. But he can say in 2015 we beat a team full of all pros. Zeke, Thomas Lattimore Bosa Ward Hooker and we beat them in the Shoe. We have the talent and have come to play every game but a let down would leave MSU a crack to crawl through.

all due respect to Dantonio but 2015 was all about the OSU coaches, not him.

This is not your normal Michigan State offense. Probably the best in the passing game that they've had in a while. Everyone focuses on the one game against ASU, but they have weapons offensively, and even though they haven't run the ball well, Lewerke is a good QB. Definitely the best QB Ohio State has seen this year.

I think Day and the Buckeyes offense will use the pass to setup the run in this game , I sure Dantonio will have a couple tricks up his sleeve and some dirty plays as well. Score is close 1st qtr, then Buckeyes pour it on 2nd qtr Go Bucks!

No they have A weapon not multiple.

Take away Stewart and they aren't going too far.

I watched the Indiana/MSU game in 60 on the BTN. My takes

MSU couldn't run the ball against Indiana. They will have much less success against OSU.

Lewerke is good passing, but sometimes he puts the ball on the money while other times he wildly inaccurate. The thing is it is not correlated to pressure. On some throws his mechanics just disappear. He does seem to be to read zone coverage well which is concerning.

Lewerke killed Indiana with his feet. He also will have much less success with this against OSU.

MSU Oline is bad. As in that's the reason they can't run the ball bad. The OT's are the worst of the bad. Indiana's DL should have had multiple sacks but allowed Lewerke to step up and throw or run with the ball. He won't be able to do that against OSU. Chase Young could set a 1 game record for sacks.

MSU kicker is below average as well. He made 2 FG but missed the only one of any length. The first one he made was a knuckle ball that would have been short from 10 yards more and the last was a glorified extra point.

I was really surprised how many time MSU brought extra rushers. The majority of snaps they brought 1 or 2 extra. In the 2nd half Indiana really hurt them with screens and slants. Fields will likely see the same and I expect that Day will have a plan of attack.

They likely have to bring extra rushers because, while the secondary is not bad, it is incredibly average (and maybe below average). All the Indiana receivers got separation. At one point in the game, the Indiana QB (Penix) had 20 completions in a row. That does not bode well for them this Saturday

One other really strange thing is Penix never (and I mean never) keep the ball on the zone read. It looks like this was a tendency that MSU scouted because they never tried to defend the QB keeping. Fields will not have this same issue.

This game was a draw in reality that MSU won because they had 2 long plays after Indiana tied the game at 31. The first was a jump ball pass for about 40 yards and then some how Indiana allowed Lewerke to scramble to the 1 yard line on the next play.

In the end, this is not your fathers MSU

OSU 38 MSU 7
