Game Thread Ohio State vs Michigan State, 11/11/17 @ 12:00 ET (FOX)

Couple things I think we can expect to see from MSU during their first offensive set:

1. Lewerke loves to roll out right/left, need to have someone come off the edge and take that away.

2. They will take a shot deep early.

3. Pressure vs protection. If the Bucks get there early and often, I like their chances. If he has all day in the pocket and is able to roll out for even more time, he will make the secondary pay.

It’s going to be tough to stop their passing attack. Lewerke is building a massive amount of confidence and has the ability to bounce back quickly after a bad throw/INT.

I think this is going to come down to whether or not the Bucks can control the line and bring consistent pressure on D. I don’t expect to see JT slinging it like he did against Iowa, so I think the offense will bounce back this week.

Not a good look for JT if we're all saying that opposing coaches think the key to shutting down OSU is to attack the 5th year QB, and make him beat them.
Exactly do you know how crazy it would be to say "I'm going to see if Baker Mayfield can beat us"... The fact so many teams have no respect for him is sort of amazing.

We need to take pressure off of JT. Run Dobbins and run Weber which will then allow JT to throw play action.

if JT is 18-25 I like our chances but if he's 21-35 then I don't.

If Dobbins doesn’t get a good amount of carries this week, I don’t understand what the coaches are thinking. Sparty’s stats against the run look great, but I still don’t think they can shut Dobbins down.

Another thing I noticed is that it would be nice to see the opposite of the game vs Iowa this week. Lewerke is prone to throwing into coverage and has his fair share of interceptions on his resume. I’d love to see the Bucks undercut some routes this week and look for the ball, because he will give them their fair shot at picks.

Hey Guys. Some may remember I am a MSU guy but love this site because the enemy of my enemy.......

Anyway, Dantonio's teams do an awesome job of making teams 1 dimensional on offense. If OSU can run the ball they will win it is that easy. Because MSU will be looking to stop the run first. Now if MSU is able to shut down the rushing game (as they have against everyone so far) they will force JT to beat the MSU secondary. This is not that difficult. MSU can be beat through the air all day.

I think if OSU offense is working properly then OSU wins. If JT and the passing attack bogs down this could get interesting. I did not think the MSU offense had enough to beat PSU or OSU to start the season. The play of Lewerke the last few weeks has completely changed my outlook.

I guess I just don't get this OSU team. They just seem to lack any real focus. Not sure why that is or how to change it. Urban is a top 5 coach in college football so I struggle to say it is a coaching issue. But who knows, maybe he has hit burnout at OSU now, just like Utah and Florida and needs to move on. He is 44-3 in the B10 with his only loses coming at the hands of MSU and now Iowa. I do think that part of the issue is setting of goals. Anything short of NC series and the season is a failure. It might help if they broke it into parts and focus on say the Preseason, B10 regular season, and then post season. But the team has a 5th year senior QB and should have zero leadership issues.

I have no prediction. I had MSU going 8-4 with losses to ND, PSU, OSU and one random loss. Right now anything less than 9-3 would be a huge disappointment. And right now I am not afraid of the game at OSU.

BTW 16 points......are you kidding me? MSU completely shit the bed against ND. So I guess if they come in and play like crap the game could get out of hand but 3 scores seems like crazy talk.

I have been told that Dantonio breaks down 3 teams in detail every Summer. Team number 1 is always SCum, team number 2 is always OSU, and team 3 is a rotating team. So you can expect MSU to be fully ready and have a sound game plan against OSU.

I just don't see MSU losing by more than 16 unless it is a late garbage score. But on the flip side OSU has been scoring an insane number of points all season. So I guess it is possible.

I am supposed to go to some charity function Saturday Night so hopefully I will get to see the whole game before we leave. So lets hope we don't see some cray delay like this past weekend.

Good Luck. I still can't believe Dantonio got out of Ohio. I am worried he only has a few years left.

Hi Greyshirt. Unfortunately you left out the pedsters which is why the game two weeks ago was a big deal.

On the bright side for the Buckeyes, Nick Bosa should be well rested and actually the whole defense after their dismal performance against Iowa. I'll be happy with a one point win like 2012/2016 ~ 17/16.

I think the myopic reality is that we are 7-3 in the last 10 games where all 3 of those losses were huge blowouts. Usually against tougher opponents, our D is good enough to cover up any of JT's deficiencies. He plays well enough to get us the win.

But this year is a whole different story,

Man, the last few weeks have been heart attack city for us. I wish I could say this week we’ll be able to breathe easy. Cue Dantonio and his band of spoilers riding in to get the blood pressure through the roof.

How many more days until Saturday? Hot damn.

and let me guess....... we'll force the ball to Dobbins this week and run him right into the teeth of the #1 rush defense in the Big 10, just like we did with Samuel second half of last season, with little to no success, or run Barrett on the read-option 15-20 times and we'll be complaining that they need to open up the offense. I can see myself screaming at the tv midway through the 2nd quarter already. Just what MSU and Dantonio are expecting. I have not checked the weather expected in C-bus yet for this weekend, but if there is even a hint of bad weather they aren't covering 17. I'll be happy with a win. Go Bucks!
