Game Thread Ohio State vs Nebraska, 11/05/16, 8:00pm ET ABC

Observations about the offense..

1. We did some things that we normally never do and it really worked out Beautiful in keeping them off balance. We utilized the middle of the field with JT throwing 16 (roughly half his passes) through the middle.

We used the quick jet and touch pass to success which is huge in stressing the defenses eyes later in the game if ran correctly.

We threw to the open man and never forced the issue which was great to see. Finally, thank God no option football.

2. We threw on first down a ton this game which is good because we really had a reputation of running the ball early in downs.

3. LITTLE JT called runs... we have too many people that need to get the ball and JT being asked to run just doesn't make a ton of sense. Dontre, Curtis, and Weber did a good job.

4. No turnovers and we sustained a ton of drives due to hitting a ton of 3rd down conversions
I think a lot of his runs previously weren't designed but were on reads or pull downs. Yesterday he was crazy calm with stepping up in the pocket, getting outside if he needed to after that, and still looking throw first. He obviously was focused on that. He also calmly and wisely ran through a pretty high level of progressions repeatedly.

Went to the game. Glad I paid $140 ea as it was certainly a 1st tier game /sarcasm

A lot to like about last night's game. JT did not get sacked (I think) and didn't really experience any pressure. The offense and the defense all were clicking on all cylinders. Impressive win.

Return teams need work.

Glad Armstrong was not seriously hurt. There was real concern in the stands. Word spread that he had broken his neck. I'm really glad this was false.

This is my first post and probably my only post, I am one of many Cornhusker fans that want fans of "Thee Ohio State Buckeyes" to know that I watched the game from my Big screen TV in Nebraska like a majority of the people here did and I have to say first that I'm sorry that we did not make a good showing today, we were truly outplayed and out coached in every aspect of the game. I have to say that I have never really been a fan of OSU but i have never been a hater; you like NU have had your share of them. I guess the one thing I have always loved about OSU is that there are probably the only fans that hate Michicken as much as i do.
But tonight I saw a side of your team, coaches and fans that I rarely see anymore in football; i saw genuine concern for a downed player from an opposing side, when Tommy Armstrong went down all of Nebraska went silent, not for the ballplayer but for the man behind the helmet. I was amazed and impressed how concerned your stadium appeared to be when he went down. Thank you for renewing my faith in this game they call football; i still am a diehard Husker fan and I hope to someday soon be able to watch our team return the beating that we took today; but, know that there are many fans of Ohio State at least until they play the Huskers in many parts of Huskerland.
Now go, beat the Michicken Bloverines and unless we should happen to meet again this year.; win out and then take down the tide for the national championship. Good Luck.

God Bless
Damn fine post! I have to say my stomach was in knots watching that unfold last night. Never want to see that. "Hit them hard and see how they fall" is in our fight song but we want them to always get back up again to play the GAME. Much respect for Nebraska and it's history and proud to have them in the BiG. Take care.

Been there and done that so I am glad that that did not happen. Saying that, I did not know that the Ohio State University Medical Center ER could move that fast. Been there many times and they are slower than molasses. I do not even think that Armstrong had an x-ray as fast as he was back to the Stadium. It was hard for me to believe that ER physicians released a person that fast who had been unconscious just a short time ago but I guess they know what they are doing… most of time:wink:

My Mom remarked they must have a special wing for 'Armstrongs'. As they took great care of her, Linda Armstrong (and me...a new Armstrong) back when I was born...36 years ago this week!

And yes, I actually have a half brother named Tom. I told him as a Michigan State fan he should stay out of Columbus for awhile.
