Game Thread Ohio State vs Nebraska, 11/05/16, 8:00pm ET ABC

I was rooting for the Bad Guys. As in, they played real, real bad.

Super fun time was had by all Husker Fans in attendance, by all accounts - the score aside. Lots of reports of how well folks were treated, and how neat the Sam Foltz tribute was (I especially liked the Buckeye helmet), and it was neat hearing the fans cheer for Tommy as he came back on the field.

Next time we visit Columbus we'll try to have a better showing. It's been beyond ugly on our parts. You guys deserve a better show than that.

Husker columnist refuses to give Ohio State credit

Now it’s important to note that Ohio State has great talent, speed, ability, all that. And the Bucks had their backs against the wall at home. Lose, and their season was all but over. They were trying to get their groove back.

* * *

But the story for Nebraska wasn’t so much what Ohio State was doing as what the Huskers weren’t doing.

Frankly, they weren’t competing. They weren’t digging in, fighting, not like we have seen time and again this season. That’s been the theme. Not in this one.

Ohio State is a good team, but these Buckeyes went into overtime at Wisconsin — same as the Huskers. They shouldn’t be 59 points better.

* * *

The spotlight on Nebraska here reminded us how fragile the Huskers still are....

If the Huskers don’t play better than they did in the blinding spotlight at Ohio State, it won’t matter.

I agree. I'm not going to open the Tim Beck can of worms right now, but Freshman JT makes those throws no problem.

I also wonder how much this has to do with our highly inexperienced WRs. We have limited practice time, and developing the vertical passing game takes much more time and reps given the degree of coordination required between the QB and his receiver. Tough to do, with so many first time starters
Freshman JT made those throws against Rutgers and Sparty. He missed them a lot too.

This is my first post and probably my only post, I am one of many Cornhusker fans that want fans of "Thee Ohio State Buckeyes" to know that I watched the game from my Big screen TV in Nebraska like a majority of the people here did and I have to say first that I'm sorry that we did not make a good showing today, we were truly outplayed and out coached in every aspect of the game. I have to say that I have never really been a fan of OSU but i have never been a hater; you like NU have had your share of them. I guess the one thing I have always loved about OSU is that there are probably the only fans that hate Michicken as much as i do.
But tonight I saw a side of your team, coaches and fans that I rarely see anymore in football; i saw genuine concern for a downed player from an opposing side, when Tommy Armstrong went down all of Nebraska went silent, not for the ballplayer but for the man behind the helmet. I was amazed and impressed how concerned your stadium appeared to be when he went down. Thank you for renewing my faith in this game they call football; i still am a diehard Husker fan and I hope to someday soon be able to watch our team return the beating that we took today; but, know that there are many fans of Ohio State at least until they play the Huskers in many parts of Huskerland.
Now go, beat the Michicken Bloverines and unless we should happen to meet again this year.; win out and then take down the tide for the national championship. Good Luck.

God Bless
Good post. UNL has a great fans. I served with quite a few of them in the military and counted them as good friends. They were a excellent addition to our conference.

Hey, Knappic, loved your post. Next time we come to Lincoln, I'd bet we're treated just as well as you folks were. Didn't see the Foltz tribute, but by all accounts, it was pure class (live in Texas). Any way, best of luck the rest of the way. You guys deserve it. :urban2:
