the line being -17 is one thing. the line moving from -17 to -14.5 and very recently back to -17 is quite another. especially given osu's recent performances, that is quite a counter-intuitive change in such a short period of time. the only thing i can think of is that nebraska's collective penis will invert due to seeing beck in the flesh once again.

Think we can sneak him on their bus on the way out? Some people might just see the familiar face and forget that they got rid of him once.

NEBRASKA WASN'T VIEWED AS A BIG-TIME GAME FOR OHIO STATE PRIOR TO THE SEASON, BUT IT IS NOW

When people looked at Ohio State’s schedule before the season started, a number of games jumped off the page as potential big-time matchups.

There was the non-conference showdown in September at Oklahoma. Shortly after that, the Buckeyes had back-to-back road games at Wisconsin and Penn State — two of college football’s most hostile venues. Then, of course, the two final games of the year: a road game at Michigan State and the regular-season finale against archrival Michigan.

Nobody really thought the Nov. 5 matchup with Nebraska would be viewed in that same light.

As things turn out, it’s quite the opposite now that the game against the Cornhuskers is here. Nebraska comes to Columbus at 7-1 and the No. 9-ranked team in the country. Ohio State, also 7-1, is ranked sixth.

“Really impressed with our conference, the quality of play, players and teams we’re playing,” Buckeyes head coach Urban Meyer said Monday during his weekly press conference. “These guys are really good.”

The Huskers are coming off their first loss of the season as they were upended 23-17 at Wisconsin in overtime. But Nebraska started the season with seven-straight victories and they certainly captured Ohio State’s attention.

“A great team coming in in Nebraska,” Buckeyes quarterback J.T. Barrett said. “I think it’s going to be an exciting atmosphere and it’s going to be exciting for our fans.”

If the rumors I am hearing are correct, then I completely understand the new line. Apparently, it is due to a chain of events.

  1. Buckeyes playing in throw-back uniforms.
  2. Beck will be in the booth alone calling plays.
  3. Beck will be told that the throw-back uniforms have a new "N" on the side, meaning NUT, as in "fear the nut".
  4. A bit of rewiring and Beck will be calling the offense for Nebraska.

according to vegas insider, the line is still at -17 with some books at -17.5 or even -18. 96% of the bets are taking nebraska, though. maybe it's a reverse line movement where the line moves in opposition to the majority of the bets. if so, the sharps (smart money) are taking osu while the squares (idiots) are taking nebraska. but at -17 when osu's offense has been struggling and the defense hasn't exactly been stifling? i just don't get it. either there is information that hasn't been publicized or there are betting analysts who see something we don't... at all. i can't recall an ohio state betting situation more odd than this.
