Game Thread Ohio State vs Oklahoma, 09/09/17 @ 7:30 ET (ABC)

Summertime man

Notre Dame and tsun are convincing themselves of the return to glory, all 9 Miami fans are online and talking National Championship, MAC fans will talk themselves into believing they are going to upset us, Penn Sate fans will pretty much be the same way they are all the time and now we have a B12 fan one year removed from, another, prime time ass beating talking about defense.

Hahaha!!! Well when we're in a sh*tty time of year in terms of sports, there's nothing better than anticipating football season. I'm certain Joe Mixon will challenge Zeke Elliott as the best running back in the NFL with Adrian Peterson almost passed his prime.

As a Bengals fan (fml), I certainly hope so. A lot needs to happen on the offensive line for him to be able to put up Zeke numbers.

Well, maybe the Bengals can get Orlando Brown in the next draft.

I'm a Cowboys fan myself, but they've always disappointed me since their dynasty run in the '90s. So I pretty much root for any team with former Sooners on them, except Philadelphia and New England.

Late to the discussion but, like many posters have already said, I'm not sure how OU keeps it close. OU lost all of their proven playmakers on a team that we dominated at their place. Yeah we lost almost our entire secondary but that was the same deal last year. This year OSU is actually going to have a competent OC instead of a dude playing Madden. I'm not seeing it unless the secondary is absolutely horrendous, and we haven't had that since 2013.

Well, we'll have a better feel for how this game will go during our game week. But OU losing Perine, Mixon, and Westbrook isn't as bad as it may seem. OU lost Sterling Shepard to graduation last year, and his replacement DeDe Westbrook emerged as the Biletnikoff Award winner. I would say either Jeff Mead or Marquise Brown emerges as OU's top wideout, and OU still has Mark Andrews who will be playing on Sundays soon. As far as running back, maybe Abdul Adams or Rodney Anderson emerges, or even true freshman Trey Sermon. (This could be like our 2012-13 backfield when we had Finch, Clay, and Damien Williams in a "running back-by-committee" rotation.)

Both coaching staffs are very well balanced, with Urban (3 NCs under his belt) obviously having the experience that Lincoln Riley lacks. But Riley is younger and far more energetic and OSU will be the first big game he experiences. This game will be pretty close I think. Much like OU vs. OSU in '77 or Texas vs. OSU in 2005.
