Game Thread Ohio State vs Penn State, 10/28/17 @ 3:30 ET (FOX)

After taking a few days to process and review the game numbers, I think there is one very important thing to point out. Penn State only had 3 sustained drives. Only one drive over 75 yards. Osu had 5-6 (depending on what you call a sustained drive).

So my point is: if Ohio State kicks the ball out of bounds every time then the final score is closer to PSU 25 OSU 40. That’s not kicking it out of the end zone, that’s if we just kicked the damn ball sideways out of bounds.

First....I saw a couple people post this during the game. If you turn and kick it sideways out of bounds, that's where they get the ball.....not at the 35.

Second, and more importantly.....They only had 2 sustained drives, because the third was one where McSorely ran for 3rd and 11 because apparently it was allowed on that play to straight up tackle a defender.

Honestly we did most of the things I thought we couldn't do if we wanted to win. I personally felt we needed to win the turnover battle (failed), needed to make them score on sustained drives (failed), we needed to contain them on the kickoff (fail), and we needed to win up front (big YES).

What I love about this game other then beating a disguising program is we won a game and still have so many things to clean up. Its sort of alarming to be honest with the kick off team and the penalties as those have been issues all year.

If this was a perfect game and we'd won this game I would've been a little worried that it took a perfect game from JT to win. However, as has been pointed out this game probably should've been more like a 48-17 win for the boys.

another way to look at it is OSU had such a massive talent advantage that Penn State had to capitalize on every mistake OSU made AND they needed OSU to make a bunch just to keep it close.

They failed to capitalize on one thing, the fumble in the 4th Q, and that was all she wrote. OSU came back and punished them from there.

One team has to be significantly better than the other to have that situation play out

I think one of the other sustained drives was with that face mask penalty on Hubbard too which would've had them 2nd and 20. So really one true drive where we didn't keep it alive.

Don't know how some of you post while the Buckeyes are playing. Watching special teams is frustrating enough. If I wanted 100 different ridiculous solutions on fixing the problem I'd sit in my regular section of C Deck or go to a watch party at BW-3. I do wonder if BP will solider on, given three-quarters of our daily members quit being fans sometime around 6:00 pm Saturday.

@Fungo Squiggly was one of the few that really bitched up and chose positivity. Some of you should be more like Fungo. Crap, did I really just type that?

Oh I'm much worse than somebody who posts during the game. I go back and read it all after the fact and get fired up

The strange thing is that I'm typically very pessimistic leading into games and when things do go south, I expect it to get worse. But I never felt that way during Saturday's game.
