Game Thread Ohio State vs Rutgers, Homecoming, 10/01/16 @ 12p ET, BTN

Think the worst possible thing for Rutgers was Ohio State having a BYE week after Oklahoma, might had gotten a let down of sorts if the game was this past weekend. With the BYE week though I expect Urban will have them fully focused and firing on all cylinders, could get very very ugly.

Iowa clearly isn't up to the task of properly preparing the Scarlet Knights for what they'll face a week from Saturday, so perhaps we should send them an at-home preparation kit.

FIFY. I honestly don't think Rutgers is getting any free lube. I have a feeling that shutting down the offense will not be taken into consideration this week.

I think Bucks win big somewhere around 48-7 giving up a garbage time touchdown. Don't think Urban runs up the score on Chris Ash. If all goes well, hoping JT gets in a good first half and Joe Burrow can come in 3rd quarter and get some quality reps along with the whole 2nd team. Need the starters healthy in a couple weeks.

From CPD before '14 B1G CG regarding Urban vs his former assistants

Here's how Meyer has fared in the first six matchups:

2009: Meyer's Florida Gators beat Dan Mullen's Mississippi State Bulldogs, 29-19.

2010: Mullen returns the favor with a 10-7 win.

2012: Meyer leads Ohio State past Illinois and coach Tim Beckman, 52-22.

2013: Ohio State beats Andersen and the Badgers 31-24, then the Buckeyes pour it on Illinois again, 60-35.

2014: Meyer's Buckeyes take it to Beckman and the Illini again, 55-14.

2015: ???

so add in the 59-0 fisting he gave his old buddy Andersen (again)

6-1
286 points scored in the 6 wins
avg score was 48-19
4 of the 6 he went over 50
average MOV in the six wins was 27 points

I don't think Urban does mercy or kindness like normal folk would.

Without Grant it's gonna be really hard for Rutgers to score

He had 20 catches on the year, the next most was 8. I imagine it'll be rougher sledding for the other WRs without him taking a bunch of attention from the D, Laviano is only completing 52% of his passes as is anyway. I doubt theyll be able to run much on us either, their rushing stats look ok on paper but the games against Howard and New Mexico kind of inflate that. (They averaged 2.8 YPC vs Washington and 3.6 vs Iowa)

Which would be virtually identical to last year (winning 49-7, giving up a TD on the last play of the game). Seeing as they don't have that great WR they had last year (Leonte Carroo?) and that game was at Rutgers, I'd imagine it'll be a even bigger ream job at The Shoe with Rutgers having near-zero threat on offense and their defense giving up 48 points in three quarters at Washington.
