Game Thread Ohio State vs UNLV, 09/23/17 @ 12:00 ET (BTN)

It's ok to disagree I know this isn't a popular opinion i have.

I think we have struggled to find an identity on offense for some time now and throwing the ball the way that we did just doesn't accomplish as much as we could have done.

It's so hard to get a feel for what we are on offense. Every game is so awkward to me right now. One game we may run Dobbins 20 times, the next we run JT 20 times, the next we run RPO Literally all day, and then today we kind of air it out.
Not to harp on you, but if you know this.....why throw out this line:
Jesus Christ no wonder no one visits here as much... if a person says something critical it's like punching baby Jesus.
We all know the offense isn't where we expected it to be after getting rid of Beck, and we all know the re-re-reloading of the defense hasn't quite gone as well as it has in the past. Nobody is saying we'd run Bama out of the building or anything.

I hear all this but how many times did we say this last year? Remember that stretch when we dropped 62 back-to-back weeks after struggling on offense the past couple of weeks? We've seen this offense look like crap, light up cupcakes or bad defenses a couple of weeks later, then get stoned again. I'm just not falling for it this time. Oklahoma was the last time I give this team the benefit of the doubt. If we smoke Penn State I'll honestly start to believe.
Which is why I've been so critical... these past two teams aren't great and we should've embarrassed them and honestly didn't. The potential was there for UNLV but we decided to play backups which is ok with me.

I really like what Mack is doing at WR and the same goes for Parris, Hill and even Dixon. IMO we need more of those four and less of the others. Victor is intriguing to play but boy he struggles between the 20s.

Because while my opinion is critical I feel like I get personally attacked for voicing it.

There's ways to disagree and telling me I'm an idiot more or less isn't the way to do it.

Difference was under Beck it was the exact same offense that either out talented people or didn't. Under Wilson we are clearly working on new things the last few weeks instead of just saying we do what we do and just expect it to work next time vs talent.

After Oklahoma we needed to see improvement in the passing game.

JT needed to be more accurate. Check. Regardless of the opponent, he has been very efficient and improving on his ball placement. Positive direction. Same for the backups.

We needed to see the WRs make plays and stop dropping balls. Check. Much fewer mistakes and guys are getting after it in their routes and after the catch. Keep this momentum going.
DB's needed to play their assignments. Check. Other than the penalties they've made numerous plays albeit Army didnt give many options. First teamers today were quite good in my opinion and got turnovers which is why last years team did so well.

LBs has to improve. Check. Not needed as much in coverage and except for the backups guys have been very good. Tuf is the stuff.

Special teams look pretty special. They are still a work in progress but they are progressing. BiG Championship and Playoff arent next week. Just keep getting better.

I'm with you. Seeing a number of positives on Offense in the passing game. Seeing players emerging, play calling is better, JT and receivers are on the same page, nice rythmn, spreading the ball around, all good stuff. The running game is exceptional. Many things to continue to build upon.

I agree. I think the past 2 games have been positive too. JT was on the money today. Yes, he missed that one pass pretty badly. It happens. I don't agree with the people who say "this short passing game won't work against good teams." Why not? Tell me how many college teams have passing offenses built around the deep ball if you think that. We will have an edge in athletes in almost every game we play. Let's get the ball in their hands and see what happens. We seem to be doing that now.

What do people expect .,we have a good team with flaws that probably will lead to a few more losses 1 or 2. Deal with it! The secondary hasn't reloaded. The OL is good but not NC material. Our TE and WR are Ok. The QB is good but not good enough to cover up the above deficiencies and we don't have a "schematic" advantage. So if everything goes perfect we lose in the playoffs if it doesn't we lose before.
