Ohio State Wrestling (2015/2017/2018 B1G Champs, 2015 National Champs, 2019 National Runners-up)

Couple names I saw on wrestling websites that would be very interesting .... Coach Borelli from Stanford no longer has a team to coach and man would it be a shot-in-the-Buckeyes arm if he brought his two All Americans (Griffith and Woods) with him! Of course that's a real longshot but closer to reality could be former Buckeye Reece Humphrey who was a great mat wrestler. Still think Logan would be the favorite though.

Borrelli would be amazing even if it's a pipe dream. I would love Griffith, but probably not Woods...Woods basically didn't even show up to practice apparently and just relies on talent. Griffith on the other hand is amazing, he's one of the true champs of wrestling right now and his statement to Stanford for cutting the wrestling program was awesome.

Back to Humphrey or Stieber, loved watching both of them here and either seems like a logical replacement. But as you said, Stieber knew mat wrestling and frankly was the best wrestler on the mat I've seen here since I've watched Ohio State wrestling. Dirty tilts and turns on top, impossible to ride on bottom.

Couple names have been entered in the Transfer Portal... Chase Singleton and Gas Tank Gary Traub. I'm thinking a factor here is Orndorff making All-American this year. Beating out a returning A-A is practically unheard of. Also heard Ryan is trolling the portal as well. Seems to be real proactive at improving things so far...we will see.

Don't really care on Singleton, he can't go heavy next year and looked awful at 197. Gas Tank is kind of a bummer, love him for what he did here but Orndorff won the spot and was AA, so I get it. I would expect we pull some good names from the portal. Really hoping we go for Griffith.

Cleary also in the portal. If they were thinking of redshirting Paddy Gallagher then who goes at 157? I hope you are right about "some good names".

Interesting, not really a loss on Cleary though. I think Paddy is a guy that could be an instant impact, but I'm curious to see if Sasso goes up to 157. He's got the frame to move up there, that's for sure.

Good news tonight as OSU has a commitment from 133#er Will Betancourt. Caught the commitment by accident as I was trolling through Shane Griffith's tweets so I don't know much about him except he's from Pa. which is a good thing for starters! And him being 133 would be a perfect fit. Will post more info as it comes..

edit..Betancourt wrestled this season for Lock Haven State. 2020 Grad h.s. at Manheim Central (Pa) where he was state champ his senior year.

With Sammy Sasso (Nazareth, Pa.) and Ethan Smith (Latrobe, Pa.), anchoring the current roster, the addition of Feldman and Betancourt gives the Buckeyes a number of recent top recruits from arguably the top high school wrestling states in the country.

3 main reasons Betancourt chose Ohio State...

1. He is a faith-based athlete and feels very comfortable with a faith-based coach in Tom Ryan.
2. Is good friends with future Buckeye Nick Feldman who told him good things about Ohio St. and the program.
3.Is known as a mat wrestler and welcomes the chance to learn and work on his takedown technique.

Snyder up 7-0 on Moore right now on NBCSN.

Freestyle match ended at 10-0 in the second period.

Information can be found in literature saying that wrestlers achieve their best results at the age between 24 and 27 years (Bompa, 1999). It is an interesting fact that various strength parameters also peak at this age.

The average age of all Olympic wrestling champions is 26.79 years. The freestyle average age is 26.42 and for Greco-Roman is 27.15.

No surprise with that score; I don't see Moore beating him in 2 straight matches (i.e. best of 3). Kyle Snyder is 25.
