Ohio State Wrestling (2015/2017/2018 B1G Champs, 2015 National Champs, 2019 National Runners-up)

Any idea what next years lineup might look like?

Thought you'd never ask :)

125: Malik Heinselmann (great wrestler but needs to pack on the weight before next year, pretty small right now)
133: Luke Pletcher (should be able to stay down at 133)
141: Joey McKenna (should contend for the title in 2019)
149: Keshawn Hayes (needs to step it up next year and at the very least AA, could potentially contend for a title with Retherford and Sorensen gone)
157: Mic Jordan (not sure he'll ever get past semis with Nolf, Hidlay and Kemerrer all back, but solid AA)
165: Kaleb Romero (hung out with his family and the Singletary's on Friday, they were saying Romero likely goes 165 and Campbell bumps up...should contend right away, kid has some serious talent...but also a chainsaw of a weight class pending anyone bumping up with Joseph, Wick, Marinelli, Massa, etc.)
174: Teshan Campbell (talked with a bunch of people in the program and Campbell was struggling hard to make weight, plus he was injured pretty bad...expect him to look much better at NCAA's next year up one weight)
184: Myles Martin (probably another runner up, but big team points obviously)
197: Kollin Moore (talking with some people in the know, Kollin is flat burnt out on wrestling right now and it kind of showed in the later part of the year...still a great season but he needs to get in the weight room and take a little time off...really needs to work on his set ups and not have to depend on shooting a mile out...do that and I like his odds to win it all next year)
Hwt: Chase Singletary (first off, great kid and fans will love him...was ranked at the top of his weight coming out of HS and great pedigree coming from Blair...needs to keep hitting the weight room hard because he is an undersized heavy, but we've seen that you can make that work...I fully expect him to be competing for AA status, particularly with so many seniors graduating from the weight)

- All in all, the team should look pretty darn familiar. The weights getting replaced are being replaced by 3 elite wrestlers that were all the top ranked wrestlers at their weight coming out of HS that should be ready to compete right away. Biggest question mark to me is 125, as I have a ton of confidence in Romero and Singletary. Should be another great season but to be candid, we needed to knock off PSU this year. They have everyone back except Retherford and they'll have an elite guy stepping in there and also will have 125 addressed with their recruiting. It would be extremely tough to knock them off next year.

Thanks @RB07OSU - are the new guys (Malik, Kaleb, & Chase) guys we can expect to make the NCAA's?

Looking forward to what a healthy and bumped up Campbell can do - if he can take a leap forward hopefully we can stay in 2nd in the B1G although Iowa looks like they'll be tough again. Not sure how Michigan is looking with Coon gone....wonder if anyone else can take a step forward to make it interesting in the B1G....Wiscy? Minny?

These kids are the best. On Thanksgiving day next year look out your window. As you're deciding whether to have Pumpkin or Cherry pie for dessert, the kid running past your house is probably a wrestler. On Christmas day, when you have 12 inches of snow in your driveway and are calling around for someone to plow it because it's too much work to shovel it yourself, that same kid is either running past your house or pumping iron in his basement. These kids are the most dedicated athletes in the world. There is no "pot of gold" at the end of their rainbow. They do what they do because they love what they do. Plain and simple.

No problem, glad to have good conversation in this thread and the future is bright. Every one of the new guys should at the very least make NCAA's. Hopefully they all are contending for AA status, although realistically I think Malik will need a year before that. Chase and Kaleb should be ready to wrestle at that level after redshirt years.

As for the B1G, I think the pecking order remains largely the same, albeit that I think Michigan and Iowa will close the gap some...they both have some great recruits coming in.

In any event, we'll have a lot of great wrestling to look forward to. This senior class might not have been able to quite pull off a championship this year, but they built a foundation for a chance to do it for years to come. Looking back on this team, I'll have nothing but really fond memories.

Ohio State had already signed one of the top recruiting classes in program history with its 2018 crop of wrestling prospects, and added one more member of the class Monday when three-time Ohio high school champ Kevon Freeman announced he would wrestle for the Buckeyes.

A product of Lake Catholic in Mentor, Freeman is one of the top 160-pound prospects in the country, ranked No. 11 by FloWrestling and No. 15 by InterMat. He joins Central Crossing standout Jaden Mattox, ranked No. 6 and No. 4, respectively, at 160.

Freeman announced his intentions to wrestle for head coach Tom Ryan via Twitter.
