I do think, given what we've seen and what we have heard this week, the offense is going to go back to the drawing board. At this point it has to be playing into the psyche of JT Barrett - the constant hits, the overload on his workload, the fact it appears he's been made "the man" to carry the offense. It's probably a bit of a miracle he hasn't totally broken down (although I think his confidence level may be toeing that line) and/or gotten injured.

The coaches see these guys in practice every day and are being compensated very well to evaluate what they are doing and mold it into a cohesive plan. Trusting the coaches is what we should be doing, and criticism for what we've seen so far is fair. JT et. al. aren't Michael Vick type wunderkinds who can, as a single player, put a team on his back and go to the national title game. That type of player is exceedingly rare at any time in college football and is why Vick not winning the Heisman in 1999 is a travesty.

And let's not forget - MAYBE Oklahoma is just that good this year. Sacrilege I know and despite what RC thinks, maybe they actually are....new coach, new focus, new energy - whatever. It's a long football season and while I have my own personal doubts, I think Penn State, Iowa and scUM are going to be extremely hard to win given what we've seen so far, but some teams get significantly better once faced with some direct adversity like what Ohio State is facing now.

JT is an Ohio State legend and will be remembered as such.

For me I think OU definitely is a top 3 team and barring a screw up will make the playoffs. However, in saying that OSU has at the very least just as good of a talent pool as OU and it's widely accepted we have much better talent then OU. I understand what you mean and I give OU credit but we shouldn't have lost by 2+ scores at home (should've been 4 scores really) when we were the superior team in talent.

I agree though with what you say. From Meyer talking about becoming more creative and finding an identity I have optimism regarding our future because I've never heard him say things like that. Especially when you add Wilson talking about needing to find Rhythm and feeling disjointed which again is different language then "we need to fix it". As you said too much is on the QB's plate right now and hopefully we understand that we have two willing running backs who can help the kid out.

I don't know if I'd say that. A team with good talent that has a good game plan and executes well will beat a great team that doesn't execute well at all. There are ample examples of this but the best one I can think of is the 2002 National Title team. They were very talented, especially on defense, but better than that, they executed very well when it mattered. Compare that to the 2002 Cryami team which was, on the whole, more talented, but didn't execute at that level and it finally bit them.

Raw talent is what Ohio State has, especially on defense. Oklahoma's talent doesn't quite have the ceiling OHio State's does but it has a higher floor as well because it's more developed (experienced?) at this point in time.

I mean the guy has had 171, 115 and 205 (!) rushing attempts the past 3 years and already 31 this year. That's a LOT of hits, especially when you consider he's also getting hit when he throws the ball sometimes too. And that doesn't even count the rushes that have been called back due to penalties - not a lot but each hit counts. I don't know about you and I do realize athletes at his level are wired differently from some fatass ginger like me, but getting hit that many times would certainly change how I perceive things.

That's incumbent on the coaches to see and correct - be it by getting him out of there during blowouts or designing a game plan so there aren't as many chances for him to get knocked around quite as much....

Ohio State players confronted Baker Mayfield at Senior Bowl to discuss the flag planting

Per Sports Illustrated, Mayfield was blocked in on a bus by Ohio State’s Jalyn Holmes and Tyquan Lewis. After a brief stare down, one of the players asked Mayfield “What’s wrong with you, bro?” After a brief moment of awkward silence, the three laughed it off.

“That’s what you get for kicking my ass the year before!” Mayfield said. Mayfield was referring to the Ohio State victory at Oklahoma in the 2016 season that ultimately helped Ohio State get into the College Football Playoff at the end of the season while Oklahoma was left out of the playoff entirely. The script was flipped last season with Oklahoma getting in and Ohio State being left out.

Nice to see the players aren't as sensitive as some of the fans.
