Just posted this in game thread, although it probably belongs here...just my .02 cents.

I made the statement during the Indiana game, that I'd prefer they go back to a "Tebow-esque" offense around Barrett. Give him 1 read on pass plays, develop the play to look off safeties, when he comes back to his primary receiver, if it's there, pull the trigger and if it's not take what you can get on the ground. It's what they asked him to do as a freshman, and it worked very well. I understand the desire to develop him into a pocket QB that can go through progressions, but I just don't believe he has the physical gifts to deliver the ball on time to secondary receivers in the face of pressure.

The stubbornness of Meyer at this point, can and should be called out IMO. It's really frustrating to watch teams develop designed plays to execute against our defense (OU's RB/FB seam route play, the TE slip screens, etc).....in comparison to our "system" offense where JT is being asked to read the defense and make progressions....it's just frustrating. Take some of the decision-making/complexity out of the offense, and get back to physical JT Barrett who fights for the extra 2 or 3 yards, and set-up play-action off of power football.......the Tebow offense.

And if you want a system QB who is being asked to make reads and go through a route tree, maybe it's time to look another direction and see what Haskins/Burrow are capable of. Haskins has an NFL arm....Burrow lacks arm-strength, although I believe it's stronger than Barrett's.

It's frustrating to look back on, but even Kenny Guiton was humming back in 2013 with 14 TD throws to 2 picks in limited action, and close to a 70% completion percentage. He had less arm strength than Barrett but the plays were designed for him to get the ball out quickly, and he distributed it well.

We're just lost right now, and I believe a large portion of it is, this stubborn desire to make Barrett something he isn't....

The QB is the most important position period, and when you QB is not getting it done, so goes the team. Everyone appreciates JT's commitment to the team over the years, but Urban seriously needs to consider a change. I have no idea what JT may be thinking, but even he has to realize that he's not getting the job done. Granted, the offense needs tweaking as well, but if your QB starts making plays, it's amazing how it picks everyone else up.

Changing QB's isn't going to improve Isaiah Prince's pass blocking nor any other weaknesses on the OL. It all starts up
front and the OL has underperformed since Studrawa took over. Whether the problem is coaching or talent is the eternal unknown for us fans.

JT is who he is. QB's don't make significant leaps between their 4th and 5th years. Especially not when going through three OC's. But he's not getting benched and it's silly to suggest it. He'll have to lose at least two division games before that happens.

I saw an Oline that gave JT plenty of time. I can't count the number of times I was yelling throw it or run it but fucking do something besides standing there clutching it. JT has to make quicker decisions plain and simple. And they need to stop with the damn rollout pass play.

It's true that JT has a problem with indecision and holding onto the ball too long. If you didn't see Prince get beat a bunch of times then we watched different games.

He got beat a few times, but he did the right thing and pushed the DE past JT, only for JT to back right into the sack. His pocket presence is horrible, and he's afraid to do anything with the ball. He just stands there holding it, and he's holding it too low to get the ball out quickly, even if he does miraculously make a quick decision.

Lost in all the JT convo, Prince has almost entirely been lost. If he is the only option at RT this team is in trouble

Meanwhile Baker got the ball out instantly a lot, and eluded pressure/sacks about 10 times or more. Badet caught at least 3 passes for 40+ yds on scramble drills where the secondary largely did their job* but can't be asked to cover for 5-7 seconds.

* - not arguing this was a common thing, just speaking to the difference in pocket management.

The protection was pretty good when you consider the way the defense dared JT to throw it to beat them.

Frankly, I would say they did a mediocre job handling JT's feet. That 3rd and long scramble comes to mind, and there were a handful of those. We've seen it a thousand times, 4 WR set, motion the RB out, and JT runs, yet OU let him take off immediately on multiple occasions.

I guess the good thing is they've got awhile to figure things out before they play Penn State on October 28

Army/UNLV/Rutgers should be easy wins

Maryland and Nebraska pack some offensive punch but neither looks very capable at all on defense.

Use these scrubs to get some sort of rhythm going and find a plan that actually works, offensively and defensively
