OklaSt blog on Buck's O...

FKA

I totally disagree. If I'm gonna do a write up on OK St. you can bet that I'm gonna have some fans on their site proof read and make sure I have all the facts especially if it's gonna be posted on their site.

I have read many comments on the other boards. Since the Smith fiasco nobody is giving us much of a CHANCE(PERSONALLY I LIKE BEING THE UNDERDOG)

Most of their fans don't realize how awesome our special teams are from top to bottom. Whenever I bet on the Buckeyes I start out giving our team 12 points from ST. There are posters that even mock the Buckeyes because we deem Nugent as a weapon. IMO hes a hell of a weapon especially in a dome.

If I'm gonna do a write up on a team I'm gonna watch at least the last 3-4 games to see what they are playing like late in the season. I can tell the author has not seen us play because there is no mention of Gonzo. He has read articles in the newspaper and watched some ESPN, but thats not the whole story.

I think they need to watch the Michigan game and see how Joe and Johnson went through those Michigan pussies like a hot knife through butter for 97 and 99 yard drives. If we can smash mouth Michigan we can smash mouth them.

When I read the article I felt that the author was implying that without Smith we have no chance to beat them. Even some of their players aren't taking us seriously. There is a hell of alot more to our team than offense. Our defense has improved dramatically and will be totally healthy for this game.

All in all it would be a decent review for their board but IMO it was an indication of what the average OK St. fan thinks of OSU. IMO he was right about some things but he left out some key components.

As someone who helps write the blogs for this website, I would certainly welcome your research next season. Unfortunately most people have other jobs so they cannot spend that much time watching game film. The research alone, including the stats and injury reports takes a long time. Just ask some of the others who have helped write the previews.

I would have loved to watch Oklahoma St. game film, and would have loved to predict the suspension of their stud cornerback (finished the preview before the suspension was released), but unfortunately there are deadlines. 3yardsandacloud is a stickler for those damn deadlines. (jk)

brutus2002 - no offense, but I know very few people that have the kind of time you're talking about with which to dedicate to writing an unpaid, amateur review. I've helped write many of our game previews this year, and I didn't see game film before-hand on hardly any of them. You have to take what you can find on the internet and by researching, and you have to do it in a limited time frame. I think that even a die-hard Buckeye fan would be hard pressed to find anything in print backing up your assertions that Gonzo is a stud WR, or that Joe, who was hurt most of the year, is a decent runner. Seriously, what have they done this year? Where are the highlights? Gonzo had ONE good game. Joe didn't even have that, unless you count the scUM game, and his stat's weren't all that great in that game. I love the Buckeyes, but the offense SUCKED this year. Yeah, they played balls to the wall against scUM, but what did they do before that? JWil pointed out that the O has improved, and is improved from the beginning of the year, and that's all he can honestly say, especially with Smith out. I stand by my opinion that it is a well-researched and written review.

Relax folks. It's just a rival's point of view. That was the whole point of the exchange. We thought it would be interesting to see what someone from the other side would see with limited information at hand. That's pretty cool if you ask me. We didn't ask JWil to put on the kid gloves for us. We just said tell us what you see. He's pretty much on target. It doesn't matter if he is aware of some of the studs waiting in our wings. We haven't even seen the O-State preview on our defense (Ryan is writing that one). So take it with a grain of salt. We wanted to spice up the bowl game for the readers of both sites. I think we've done that. Trust me when I say that NO ONE from either site had intended any disrespect to either school. JWil and I have been careful to make this clear to everyone involved. If some innocent statement is seen as a provocation, then I guess that just adds to the competition and might build a sense of rivalry where none really exists. Enjoy it. The game will be here soon and it might be another 10 years till we get to play Oklahoma State.

Agreed. I pointed out a few of the things I would have added to the review, but I definitely think they did an outstanding job. ESPN would never have had that thorough of a writeup. They would have covered a few of the nuances but not as many.

How many of us even know what Prentiss Elliot can do (he's supposed to be their all-purpose, flashy guy)? Seems as tho woods throws pretty well in limited usage, but maybe that's for a reason. All of these and others are things we can't know much about considering we never see the other team play on TV, save maybe for a rivalry game.
