OL Andrew Norwell (All-Pro)

Scout.com: Battle To The End (free)

Andrew Norwell - What more can you say about a player many consider to be the best at his position. Only a junior, Norwell is a major force who is not afraid to throw his weight around in the trenches. We've now been watching Andrew for two full seasons and he continues to improve his game. This is a major prospect.

We've received a dozen emails from folks who are raving about this kid's performances and especially his nasty streak. One email details a DL who simply tried to cut Andrew every play to maintain some semblance of gap integrity...Andrew simply started shooting his hands under the cut and burying the DL out of the hole.

I have the game on DVR and that was what amazed me...what knee bend and pad level. He was getting pancakes every play so the coach started shooting the DL to make a pile but could never get the slightest penetration to effect the play. His movement to the next level is fluid, quick, and nasty when he gets there. He is huge and loves contact. The only real weakness I could find in his game (I had to look pretty hard) was he will need to learn how to his giant wingspan in pass protection, as he lets defenders into his body at times...easy fix. I've watched Norwell twice now and I'm saying he is a 5 star for sure, along with Turner. As much as I like Turner, Norwell is the #1 guy in '10 in Ohio in my books. The top level talent in Ohio for '10 is as good as it's been for a long while.

Redskins rally behind Chris Norwell
Posted by MelanieLaughman at 1/4/2009 8:29 PM EST on Cincinnati.com

Community Press/Forest Hills Journal writer Adam Turer just filed a great story about Anderson High School and University of Illinois alum Chris Norwell, who is currently battling Burkitt?s Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Community support for an upcoming Feb. 22 fundraiser, "Once a Redskin...Always a Redskin," has been overwhelming. In fact, teams can begin registering this week for the 3-on-3 tournament.

Here's the story:

Chris Norwell has set school records on the hardwood, played in the Rose Bowl, and played in an NFL preseason.

Now he is facing his toughest challenge yet.

I'm hearing from Anderson peeps on Yappi.com that Mr. Norwell could be an OSU commit this week. FWIW.

Kid is a tremendous football player. Handled himself very well against the speed of Winton Woods speedy pass rushers in the state playoffs. good feet...good size...excellent quickness.

Norwell Close To Committing?

Posted by Matt Natali on Feb 02, 2009 at 8:21 pm

I am hearing that Cincinnati Anderson offensive lineman Andrew Norwell (6-foot-6, 270) could commit to the Buckeyes in the near future.

Norwell is one of the top 10 players in Ohio's class of 2010 and got an early offer from Ohio State last November. He also has offers to Cincinnati, Virginia, Duke, Illinois, Indiana, Notre Dame and Stanford to name just a few.

If Norwell commits this week, he would be the third Ohio State verbal commitment for the 2010 recruiting class joining Youngstown Boardman's J.T. Moore and Youngstown Ursuline's Jamel Turner.

Norwell started for the Division II state championship Anderson team as a sophomore and also started as a junior for the state runner-up team.
