No this is not a little stocking stuffer, this is the one where your spouse says go look in the driveway and there is a new car or boat out there with a big bow on it...

Impressive! Ringing endorsement coming from 40! Look forward to learning more.

Thank you Andrew! Excited to follow your upcoming championship career at Ohio State and beyond.

Andrew Norwell - College Football Recruiting 2010 - ESPN

Evaluation

Norwell is a very physical offensive lineman. He has tremendous size and does a great job of using his strength and power especially in the run game. Solid in all phases of run blocking. Comes off the ball with good short first steps with excellent body lean. Gets into the defensive lineman quickly and does a super job of moving defender off the line of scrimmage. Keeps body weight into the opponent making it impossible for the defender to separate and disengage. Drives legs and bulldozes defensive lineman into laps of linebackers. Very good fundamentals when zone and reach blocking; proper steps and pad control along with sustaining contact. Outstanding at combination and double team blocking; movement off the line of scrimmage along with ability to chip to next defender. Only question in run game is overall foot quickness and initial blow delivery; needs to give a more jarring first punch. Long arms are a big asset in pass protection. Can keep pass rusher off his body due to arm extension. Norwell is an excellent run blocker that will be a major force at the next level as a run blocker. Biggest question will be if he can be an edge pass protector due to limited foot agility; if he can prove he can shuffle and change direction he will be a real monster in dropback protection. He can definitely play the guard position or right tackle at this point. If he improves foot quickness he could develop into a left tackle.

The quality of OL prospects the staff is bringing in the past couple years is light years ahead of what they did in the 1st half of this decade.

I'm just hoping the days of 1-2 O-lineman in a recruting class are over. You can't have quality if you don't have quantity.

It's always nice to have Ohio State well represented at the all-star games, even if our guys don't persuade anyone else at the game to commit to us, it is still a free nationally broadcast advertisement that Ohio State is one of the premier college football teams in the country.

Norwell will do an excellent job representing Buckeye nation, hopefully we can get a few more guys (at least) in these games as well.

More praise for Norwell

Anderson junior OL Andrew Norwell (6-6, 271) is rated No. 5 nationally in the 2010 class by Scout.com. The Web site recently released its top 300 list. Lakota West junior LB Jordan Hicks (6-2, 210) is No. 12.

Norwell is listed on the Scout.com's recruiting front page today in discussion of the North Regional 150.

"Norwell is a finisher," said Bob Lichtenfels, North regional manager for Scout.com. "He finishes every block and is one of the most dominant linemen we have seen in the Midwest in a while. He reminds me of former Michigan Wolverine Jake Long."
