I doubt it since he was an early offer. There is a reason they offered him early. JMHO

Pat Muldoon was a relatively early offer as well...... (EDIT: I looked it up...it was an April offer...so not that early...)

I think BillMac is closer to being right than he is wrong

Solon junior Darryl Baldwin considering Ohio State and other premier college football programs
by Starting Blocks

Solon junior Darryl Baldwin, considered a superb prospect as a defensive end, is considering offers from numerous Division I college programs.Solon junior Darryl Baldwin has received numerous offers from major Division I college football programs, and the Detroit Free Press reports Baldwin - being recruited as a defensive end, but who also plays tight end at Solon - has narrowed his choices to four schools, including Ohio State and Michigan State,

The Free Press' Matt Dorsey writes:

Baldwin has over 20 scholarship offers from across the country. Earlier this week, he narrowed his list down to four and MSU is one of them. Also on his list is Ohio State, Michigan and Notre Dame.
Baldwin has the classic size that major college programs look for in a prospective defensive end. He has proven his athleticism not only in football at Solon, but also as a Comets' basketball player.

here's a short video of a scrimmage with Warren Harding featuring Baldwin, he may not be dominant, but he is athletic enough to line up wide on offense and catch passes, so that is good

you can tell that he has a lot of potential at many different positions (DT, DE, OL), at least in my opinion

Bucks still lead for Baldwin - BK on Nittany Network

June 15, 2009

ESPNU 150 Watch List defensive end Darryl Baldwin from Solon, Ohio - one of the Buckeye State?s top five prospects - had a busy weekend. It began with a trip to Penn State on Friday.

"I liked it at Penn State," Baldwin said. "I liked the coaching staff. I talked to coach (Jay) Paterno. And I liked the field (Beaver Stadium)."

After visiting Penn State, Baldwin headed for Ohio State for the Buckeyes? Advanced Camp on Sunday. The 6-foot-6 and 265-pound Baldwin was impressive, running the 40-yard dash in 4.75 to 4.78 seconds, depending on who was doing the timing. He also looked very good in drills before heading to the sideline with a slightly sore left knee, which he said is no big deal.

Baldwin?s list of scholarship offers includes Penn State, Ohio State, Illinois, Notre Dame, Michigan, Stanford, West Virginia, Michigan State and Cincinnati.

He visited Michigan State, Michigan and Notre Dame during the spring.

When asked who his leaders are, Baldwin said, "Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan State and Notre Dame. It's a hard decision."

Almost since the moment the Buckeyes offered a scholarship, Baldwin has had Ohio State at the top of his list. As all the other offers have come in, that hasn't changed completely. But perhaps the Nittany Lions are gaining a little ground.

"Yea, Ohio State is kind of still my favorite," Baldwin said.

Baldwin has yet to set a timetable for selecting a college.

"I don't know when I'll decide," he said. "I'm not ready yet."

Kurelic?s Comment: The Nittany Lions have made up some ground and have a shot, but it is still going to be tough to beat Ohio State on this one.

Baldwin edges closer to the Buckeyes

Monday, June 15, 2009

Posted by Bill Kurelic

On Sunday the Ohio State coaching staff welcomed in a talented group of high school football campers for a one-day advanced camp for rising juniors and seniors.

Among the prospects in attendance was one of the top prospects in the Buckeye State -- ESPNU 150 Watch List defensive end Darryl Baldwin (Solon, Ohio). Not only did he pass the look test, but he was impressive in drills. The 6-foot-6, 265-pounder ran the 40-yard dash in 4.75 and 4.78 seconds.

Baldwin has dozens of scholarship offers, but for the most part has narrowed his decision down to Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan State and Notre Dame. He visited Penn State on Friday, but the Buckeyes have a slight edge at this point.
