From The Bank...Gavin performed well at tOSU and ND camps. Coach Meyer and Coach Warriner told him he is not ready for an offer but gave him things to improve. Gavin has offers from Bowling Green and Toledo.

Pulling stuff like this (as opposed to threatening to do it but never actually going through with it Hoke style) doesn't seem like a great way to put together elite recruiting classes.

I hope Cupp lands on his feet and Dantonio alienates coaches and elite players with moves like this.

Heaven forbid kids explore every option as they make the most important decision of their life up to that point.

I'm sure Gavin will land on his feet with a quality education on a D1 scholarship. But it's rather Busch league to pull his scholly over this, at least tell kids up front not to visit or better yet not to commit if they're not ready to stop taking visits. Hopefully this puts a chink in the armour they've had in recruiting this year

Wow, that's seems incredibly short-sighted. It seems like a classic "little brother" move that might have made some sense five years ago as he tried to build the program on an us against the world mentality based on real or imagined disrespect, but now that he's got things rolling pretty well, Dantonio should be acting like he helms an elite program and that they have no fear of what a kid might see elsewhere (notwithstanding that anyone should fear what Ohio State has to offer in recruiting). I'm not familiar with the kid, but if he's not that great of a prospect and this is just an excuse to make room for someone better, it's both short-sighted and pretty bush league.

Reportedly, it was cool for the MSU commits to attend but not to participate- because ostensibly they would be competing for an OSU offer/spot in the class.

This seems to reveal, once again, Dantonio's massive inferiority complex in relation to OSU.

As I said, I wouldn't be sad to see behavior like this come back to hurt Dantonio in the future- especially as he continues to trash OSU to recruits for not being a "family" atmosphere.

Apparently being a part of the MSU family includes extreme jealousy, spiteful punishment and complete abandonment at the slightest infraction.

As the HC if you enforce this to the letter of the law you come off badly to recruits, HS coaches and parents.

If you don't enforce it you come off as weak and arbitrary in enforcement of your own rules. How do I know what rule you will enforce and what rule you will disregard next time?

If you enforce it for one kid and not another you are playing favorites or worse.

Only way to win the "no visits rule" game in recruiting is not to play it.
