OT Isaiah Prince (All B1G)

I doubt the coaches would be that predictable(I hope anyway) that every single time Bowen comes in they only pass.

Is it possible Bowen could be sufficiently athletic to pose at least a small problem as a potential receiver, of shovel passes or something similar? He's huge, he's quite lean for a tackle, and it's not like such things haven't been tried before (Doug France).

Reporters crawled to the Woody Hayes Athletic Center on the coldest day of the year Thursday for Ohio State's Fiesta Bowl Media Day. Urban Meyer met with the media in the team room for the first time since Ohio State found out they made the College Football Playoff on Dec. 4.
  • Meyer has never seen a player work harder than right tackle Isaiah Prince has the last two weeks: "Even on days off he's coming in here and getting after it."

That's what I like to hear. I think Prince plays his ass off in the playoffs.

SHIFT IN MINDSET TOWARD TAKING RESPONSIBILITY ALLOWS ISAIAH PRINCE TO IMPROVE DURING FIESTA BOWL PRACTICE

78523_h.jpg

Billy Price knows how Isaiah Prince feels.

Often criticized either by the media or on the Internet by fans, the now redshirt junior had his fair share of growing pains during his first year as a starter on Ohio State's offensive line. That came two years ago, Price as the young blood alongside veterans Taylor Decker, Pat Elflein and Jacoby Boren.

Remember when Virginia Tech sacked J.T. Barrett seven times en route to a 35-21 victory at Ohio Stadium in September? The now team captain and All-American isn't shy about saying he was responsible for more than half of them.

The Buckeyes won the College Football Playoff that season, tearing through Alabama and Oregon to bring the program its eighth national title. Urban Meyer's team is back in the Playoff again and this time Price is one of two old heads on the offensive line, joining center and another All-American, Pat Elflein.

This time, Isaiah Prince serves as fodder for fans. This time, the ghastly performance of that player and the unit as a whole came at Penn State. Ohio State lost to the Nittany Lions just like they did to the Hokies two years ago. They haven't lost since this season.

Prince will be tested against a vaunted Clemson defensive front, of which is partly responsible for the teams 112 tackles for loss and 46 sacks this season—both good for third in the country. Fans are concerned about Prince. Price is not.

“He's a sophomore. He's a 20-year-old young man. To be able to be in a College Football Playoff, I was 19 years old doing the same thing 2 years ago in New Orleans,” Price said. “He's going to be fine.”

As you would expect... he was only a sophomore last year. Similarly, I expect Michael Jordan will be vastly improved as well.

Exactly, there is a reason most OL take longer to develop. A RB can step in from day 1 and make a mark. Its incredibly rare for an OL to succeed as a freshman/sophomore. As it relates to Prince, he has all of the talent in the world. He's added strength and technique, I fully expect him to have a great year.

OHIO STATE RIGHT TACKLE ISAIAH PRINCE LEARNING FROM 2016 SEASON STRUGGLES

84046_h.jpg

Ohio State right tackle Isaiah Prince isn’t shying away from his 2016 season struggles.

Instead, he’s looking back on what went wrong last year as he works to improve for 2017.

Prince’s play was much maligned last season, as the then-sophomore first-year starter regularly struggled in pass protection. Prince’s struggles were particularly noted in Ohio State’s loss to Penn State, in which the Buckeyes allowed six sacks, and in the Buckeyes’ overtime win against Michigan, in which the Wolverines had eight sacks.

According to CFB Film Room’s Ryan McCrystal, Prince allowed 39 quarterback pressures last season, the most among all Ohio State offensive linemen. McCrystal used a heat map to show how opposing pass-rushes exposed Prince, in comparison to the Buckeyes’ other offensive linemen, last season:

Despite those struggles, Prince started all 13 of the Buckeyes’ games last season. That was in part because the Buckeyes lacked the offensive line depth to replace him with anyone else. But going through those struggles last year could pay dividends for Prince and the Buckeyes this year.

"I learned a lot from last year," Prince said. "Without last year, I wouldn't have had this growth."
