    '08 TX OL J.B. Shugarts

    Klein (TX)

    Height: 6-foot-7
    Weight: 290 pounds
    40-yard dash: 5.12 seconds
    Bench reps: 25
    Shuttle time: 4.74 seconds

J.B. is showing early interest in tOSU and will camp in Columbus this summer.

My Take: The first thing I had to remember is that this is a sophomore film. JB has great feet and is very agile. He has a frame that still has room to grow. He will need to work on overall strength and punch/arm extension. Good looking prospect to watch.

The people over at Rivals love J.B. Should be one of the top players in Texas in '08. Hopefully he is blown away at camp.

JB recently attended one-day camps at Texas A+M and Texas; he will also camp at Michigan and Ohio State later this month.

JB claims that he is/was a Michigan fan.

How can a kid in Texas grow up to be a Michigan fan, especially when they haven't done squat since he was in kindergarten?

Isn't Youboty from Klein? I thought I remember one of our players or big-time recruits being from Klein.

Either way, this kid seems like a steam-roller and it'd be fabulous to steel one from the 'Horns although I'm sure it will be very hard to do. Sounds like he wants to leave state though...we'll see. They always say that in the beginning.

Serious OL talent for OSU in '08.

Michigan signed an OL from his school a couple of years ago, he's very close to him.

Talked with a coach from A&M that said this kid is best OL in texas regardless of class.

Wow, better than very highly rated Tray Allen. That's some serious high praise. If we can get one of either J.B. or Kyle Long to go along with Zebrie Sanders that will be one great OT recruiting class.

By BK...J.B. visited Penn State, Michigan and Ohio State last week. He talks about his trip to Columbus. He is friends with Ashton Youboty's little brother.

Video of Shugarts on SunshinePreps. Limited clips but he shows good leverage on a few plays and good burst off the ball. Very dominant and finishes off all of his blocks. Didn't show much pass blocking but appeared to have good feet.

I'd be a Buckeye fan even if we went 6-6 every year.

I saw J.B. in person at the Michigan camp. He's got a great frame, but he's still got some work to do. He was in the second tier group of lineman during the first day and he was absolutely dominate. He moved up to the top group after that and struggled. He got beat almost every time through the pass rush drill, but it could have just been a bad day. He's still a 5* type guy, he just needs to fill out and develop.

JB enjoyed his Oklahoma visit a lot. He is going to "Friday Night Lights" at Florida this weekend.
