OL J.B. Shugarts (official thread)

10/12

J.B. discusses the possibility of joining Adams, Long, and Brewster as the greatest OLine recruiting class ever. He says he and Brewster have discussed announcing consecutively at the Army game if selected and while he is not ready to say he is definitely going to tOSU, the Buckeyes are one of his top schools.

So one would think that if they all plan on announcing that late in the recruiting season that would really put the staff in a tough spot with Sanders and whether or not to offer him.

Maybe the coaches will have some "inside info" that will help them out.

The staff will know what is going on by then...

Yeah, but the chance of an early offer is probably going to be out the window, so a decision might me made in say April, which could put us behind the 8 ball considering some big time schools are already going to be in on him, and he might feel that he is only a backup plan.

I understand this is recruiting, but it will be tough if Long goes baseball, Shugarts decides it is too far from home and we miss out on Sanders b/c we waited on the other guys.

"and he might feel that he is only a backup plan."

I am sure of 2 things. One, the staff will be straight forward on him as being a "plan B". Two, I am sure he will figure that out since these 4 have been offered.

His footwork is downright amazing for a sophmore. once a college coach latches on to him he is going to be downright awesome.

Usually you get the knock of gets not being able to pass block, but from the looks of his limited film that might be his strong suit at this point.

Film.

My take: Physically impressive at 6-foot-7 but tends to play a bit high. Great motor and always keeps his feet active, often finishing blocks all the way until he is laying on top of the defender. Nice first step on run plays, often engaging the defensive player before they have a chance to put a move on. Probably needs a little work on his pass blocking but all the tools are there. Looks like a younger Kirk Barton.
