Although Mack faced Decker almost the entire game, I think that pick was on the left side and Jack was blocking him...obviously Jack had no chance to prevent that, it was on his side.

But congrats to Jack. Seems like yesterday that I was talking with Jack his freshman year about his chances at starting the next year and now he is a 2nd round pick. Great career, great leadership, and will have a great NFL career.

That pick-6 was no lineman's fault.. it was Mewhorts side.. but that was all on the QB who threw it right at him and softly.. maybe someone could have cut him.. but it was all Miller on that screen play

That was Mewhort on the timing pass. Braxton is supposed to take one step and fire it to Wilson, while Mewhort is assigned the job of cutting the defender on that side and clearing the lane. That passing lane is usually never open when the QB sets to throw, it should come open as the tackle delivers the cut block. Mewhort did not do a terrible job here, though he's done better. Mack just did a better of job of backing out of the cut block and staying upright, then reaching back into the passing lane to snatch the ball.

Colts will be without both starting guards vs. Texans

The Indianapolis Colts will be without their two starting guards – Jack Mewhort and Hugh Thornton – for Thursday's AFC South matchup with the Houston Texans.
That's not exactly great news when you consider whom the Texans will line up on the defensive line: reigning AFC Defensive Player of the Month J.J. Watt.
It will be the second consecutive game Mewhort, a rookie out of Ohio State, has missed with an injured ankle. Thornton "took a spill" in Sunday's 20-13 win over Baltimore, according to coach Chuck Pagano, but returned to the game.He was limited in practice on Monday and did not practice at all on Tuesday.

When Jack Mewhort, the Colts' starter at left guard last season, was seen lining up at right tackle last week, it raised eyebrows. When we saw it again Wednesday, it was more a confirmation than a curiosity.

The Colts maintain that nothing is etched in stone. And things rarely are at this point of the offseason. But, at the very least, Mewhort sure looks like the team's contingency plan at right tackle, where doubts about the health of Gosder Cherilus persist.

Cherilus isn't likely to participate in offseason workouts after undergoing a knee procedure and dealing with other assorted injuries that severely restricted him last season. Questions about his prognosis haven't generated optimistic responses, so we have to assume there are some legitimate concerns about Cherilus in the long term.

Watching Mewhort line up at right tackle for the second straight week is just more evidence to that effect. Mewhort is slowed by an undisclosed injury, so he isn't participating in full-speed drills. But when he's been in the lineup – at least during the two practices that have been open to reporters – he's been exclusively at right tackle.

"I've always been a big kid," said the 23-year-old Mewhort, who is listed at 6-foot-6, 308 pounds. "That's why when I got this call I was like 'They want to see me naked?' I thought I was getting punked."
