OL Jamarco Jones (Official Thread)

I am more worried about tackles. Jones is an inside guy, IMO. We are OK with inside of the line because I believe either Price or Munger move over to the OL. We need high-level tackles like Braden Smith and Orlando Brown... Those two are at the top of my list for OT right now.

Marcelys Jones is an inside guy. I think Jamarco Jones is being recruited as a tackle.

I believe ant80 is stating, even though hes a OT in HS, he personally sees him as an inside player.
Who knows, with the way Meyer and staff recruit, im sure he could play both. Were bringing in some very versatile and athletic prospects, and I see jones as having that ability.

It would be nice to get a true tackle prospect like Decker or even Hendersonk. However I don't think any of our OL from last year played at the position they were recurited at.

Correct me if i'm wrong but when they signed with OSU their projected spots were...

Mewhort - G
Norwell - T
Linsley - G
Hall - T
Fregal - TE

The thing I like most about this staff is they will offer athletic guys who weigh less than 265. It seemed like the old staff had to have at least 285lbs before they would offer an OL. It is also my impression this staff loves athletes at OL, I don't see a big space eater guy like Steve Rehring having an opportunity. I think because of that and the fluidity of the positions along the line we will be fine and any of the kids they recruit can end up at any spot.

I've never seen a film of J. Jones, but after watching some film of M. Jones, I think he could do very well as a tackle. For his size, he is remarkably quick and agile. I would guess, by the time he plays, he will be trimmer, and better coached.

Sick hoodie. Not sure if everyone is basing their opinion off his film, but he has grown 2-3 inches since that film. The general view on Jones all along was that he has the feet and athleticism to play tackle but was closer to 6'2 or 6'3 at the combines. Now he he is plenty tall enough and may well end up around 6'6. I think Jones is plenty athletic enough to play either tackle spot, just depends on who else we get.

OneBuckeye brings up a good point too...Hall (who I always saw as a guard) came in as a tackle and I thought Norwell would be for sure. I think this staff prefers getting a true tackle or two, then lots of guys like Trout and Jamarco that can certaintly play tackle but are still not too tall to get leverage playing on the interior. Brings a ton of athleticism to the line and also provides versatility. I wouldn't be too uncomfortable with either of Norwell or Hall playing tackle if need be.
