OL Joey O'Connor (transfer to Colorado State)

Rivals $ - Visits will help O'Connor decide

1/4

By Nee...talks about the speed of the DL at the UA game...has a visit to OSU set and is looking to also visit Cal and Iowa...those are his current top three while also looking at Boise State and TCU.

Tosh Lupoi has to be up for recruiter of the year...he's got so many kids looking at Cal right now it's unreal...

edit: Rivals already named him recruiter of the year in 2010...

Hopefully having a very Solid O-line coach here now will help sway Joey on tOSU when he visits.

All he needs is the offer and I hope he gets one. He played very well at the UA game yesterday. The Dlinemen he was going against were monstrous also. He played whistle to whistle and even made a tackle on special teams where 3 other guys got juked out of their jocks on the play.

Bring him to Columbus and watch him shine.

I just don't see it happening. Don't recruit guards to play tackle. Don't move TEs and DEs to tackle. Recruits tackles. This is something the old staff didn't get and the new one will correct...

I agree but not sure that is the case with O'Connor. Looks a tackle as much as Kalis and Diamond may project better at guard as well. Difference between putting guys like Tommy Brown and Chris Carter at tackle compared to guys like O'Connor, Kalis, or Jack Mewhort.

OL will be fixed, think we just need good players and quick. To me O'Connor looks a darn good player who is versatile enough to provide early depth across the line.

Definitely want Dodson the most as a natural tackle and either Diamond or O'Connor is fine by me.

So the foreseeable future is to... play with no tackles? Three offensive lineman? That's some spread offense.

I agree he isnt a prototypical left tackle prospect but I really believe he can play right tackle or either guard position at the D1 level from watching him. He played left tackle in high school so its not a brand new concept to him though his height might not allow for him to do it at OSU. On the other hand his style of play and aggressiveness lends me to believe he could do it on the QB's sight side and excel in run blocking anywhere.
