OL Joey O'Connor (transfer to Colorado State)

Denver Post - Valor Christian's Alex Kozan, Windsor's Joey O'Connor still uncommitted

1/9

With a banner class of in-state football players, it should be of little surprise that there still are some very sought after recruits on the board.

The top two remaining uncommitted targets both play in the trenches and helped guide their team to state championships in December.

Valor Christian offensive lineman Alex Kozan has four official visits under his belt, traveling to Auburn, Iowa, Ohio State, and Michigan. He is still considering his options in terms of a fifth official trip.

The second athlete, Windsor offensive lineman Joey O'Connor, had previously been committed to Penn State but he chose to reopen things after the scandal there. Ohio State appears to be one of the top programs on his radar but don't be surprised if new Penn State head coach Bill O'Brien tries to get back in on O'Connor.

ESPNU 150 OL O'Connor down to three
January, 9, 2012
By Damon Sayles

ESPNU 150 offensive lineman and Under Armour All-American Joey O?Connor (Windsor, Colo.) on Monday said he has narrowed his choices to three schools and expect to announce his final decision on National Signing Day.

O?Connor (No. 105 in the ESPNU 150), a four-star lineman and the top-ranked player in Colorado, said he will choose between Ohio State, Iowa and California. Ranked No. 15 among offensive tackles nationally, O?Connor is looking to make a commitment after decommitting from Penn State in November.

?I?ve kind of got it narrowed down,? O?Connor said. ?I?m going to [visit] Ohio State this weekend, and I?m going to Cal the weekend of the 28th. I?m still trying to contact Iowa to set something up.?

ESPN - Sooners strike out on linemen in Colorado

1/11

Oklahoma is in pursuit of at least one more offensive lineman for the class of 2012, but the answer won?t come in Colorado.

The Sooners took a late run at two of the state?s top prospects in Colorado, but are not being considered by either offensive tackle Joey O?Connor (Windsor, Colo./Windsor) or Alex Kozan (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Valor Christian).

O?Connor, 6-foot-4 and 295 pounds, said Monday he will be choosing between Iowa, California and Ohio State. O?Connor, ranked No. 1 in Colorado and No. 105 in the ESPNU 150, de-committed from Penn State in November.

I have a good feeling we will land O'Conner. With the commit of Decker today and possibly O'Conner this would be yet another huge get by UFM. I wouldn't mind getting Diamond or Dodson on signing day perhaps. Loving this recruiting class! :oh:
