Very interesting info from that side of recruiting. Do they get calls from
any of the so-called recruiting guru's ? Farrell, Lemming, Luginbill and the like ?

Thought I'd update this... Kyle was invited to be interviewed by Lemming I think Sept 29th if we can make it to the Illinois Penn State game. Trying to work out the logistics - that trip to Michigan State this weekend about killed me, I have to recover.

Buckeyes Fishing for Big Trout in 2014
By Michael Chung

When one thinks of Lancaster, Ohio, and the Buckeyes, names like Jim Cordle, Bobby Carpenter and Luke Roberts immediately come to mind.

Another name that Ohio State is looking at is Kyle Trout. This 6-6, 280-pound giant comes across as gentle, unless you happen to be standing in front of him on the football field.

With Ohio State still looking a little short on the offensive line in the 2013 class, it is imperative that Urban Meyer and his coaches recruit four to five solid guys on the offensive front for 2014. Could the Buckeyes reel in this Trout for 2014? He doesn?t have an offer just yet, but he did visit Columbus for Ohio State?s Friday Night Lights camp over the summer.

He recently took some time to talk to us about his recruitment.

Ozone: You do not have an OSU offer yet, what have the coaches said about a scholarship?

Either Kyle or the article misunderstood what I said about the non-commitable offer. I read about how OSU has used them some this year.

As for the kiss your sister I read that as well, someone describing those offers that way. I thought it was funny and pointed it out to him. But it doesn't mean he wouldn't want one. I mean, any offer type would better than nothing, right?

With the two o-line offers today it looks like tOSU has offered 12 or so linemen ahead of Kyle in his class. That's getting pretty far (too far?) down on their board and still no offer.

Only two of those are Ohio kids to my knowledge so I wouldn't be too concerned about the over all volume of offers at that position. Tell your boy to keep playing hard and the universe will take care of the rest. A class act like your family will be taken care of in the end somehow someway, of this I am sure.

Its impossible to say how many of those 12 are even commitable offers. It is entirely possible Kyle is in the exact same boat as most of those other kids the other ones just never mention whether the offers are commitable or not.

I think Jimmy Byrne and Marcelys Jones both project as interior linemen. As others have pointed out, those are the only two '14 Ohio linemen with offers right now.

There is a group of 8-10 out-of-state tackles that currently have offers but it is impossible to tell how many of them (if any) are seriously considering Ohio State.

I don't think it is a stretch to say that Kyle is the #1 tackle in Ohio for next season. What that means for Kyle and Ohio State will depend on what happens with the OOS tackles, if any of them have legitimate interest in Ohio State, and if Kyle can show that he can go toe-to-toe with them.
