OL Michael Brewster (Official Thread)

My take on the article:

I think he could make it public even earlier than October. At first he wanted to do it at the AA, now October, but with the way him and Adams seem to talk up tOSU and I think they may realize that earlier they verbal the more recruiting momentum they might pickup in terms of being able to recruit some other guys here.

Couldn't agree more...I know there are several people that are concerned about the impact the NC game had on Michael and the fact that UF has been all over him lately, but I still think OSU leads from the discussion I have had with people who are close to the situation.

I agree I can't see Brewster going anywhere but to c-bus...

Thanks...I'm new to recruiting. :shake: Take your doom and gloom back to the Scout boards.

No one is counting Brewster as a part of this class. I just know what I have been told my several different people and I feel confident about Brewster. Unlike most of you, I am not going to let this year's recruiting affect how I perceive the info I receive on a particular recruit going forward. Brewster is already recruiting for OSU which leads me to believe that he plans on being a Buckeye.

I hope you are right!!! I am not questioning your knowledge or trying to bring doom and gloom to BP. My bad...you are right - the 2003 and 2007 recruiting classes are frustrating given our national exposure in the seasons leading up to the classes.

I can't for the life of me understand how NC game appearances negatively affect recruiting other than the fact that coaches' time is spread much thinner when they have to deal w/ all that goes w/ being in a NC game.

As for Brewster, if he were to choose OSU early, are there any other Florida recruits (aside from the OL prospects) or DT prospects that you guys see him being close enough with to sway our way?

Brewster has a teammate by the name of Jeremiah Schwartz who is on OSU's radar. Darius Morgan of Citra and Patrick Johnson from Pompano Beach will both be highly rated and both are on OSU's radar as well. Richard Watson is the other big name from Florida in 2008 who already has an OSU offer (we were the first to offer).

With everything that happened this year with silents, does the staff at this point think about pressing for public committments early? I don't really have an opinion on it, and I think pressure could backfire. But they have to be thinking about it.

A great question which we all overlooked...and I wish I knew the answer to that. I know that the staff does not sweat a recruit going elsewhere nearly as much as we do, but after the pattern that was established this year, where it was like recruits decided to band together to screw over OSU, I would think the staff would be hard pressed not to change their style a bit.

Hopefully OWU knows I was just kidding with him...:wink2:

we are cool dude...I would hate for the staff to take a hard line approach in some respects b/c they might never get a chance with a kid like Barksdale if they pressure him.

I remember Texas being Barksdale's favorite at one point (hey who the F wasn't) and then as soon as Mack asked him to stop taking visits, JB decided that UT wasn't for him.

But I agree, something has to be done to prevent what happened this year with Brent, Wilson, Barksdale, Martin, and Still all leading the coaches to believe they were coming here and then pulling the rug out from under us...

Going by his number one criterion, and reading some of the udpdates from last week, it's pretty apparent OSU will be tough to overcome. Michael seems to love Coach Bollman.

From the Michigan site...Michael is focusing on OSU, Michigan and Florida. He plans to decide by early October and enroll early.

The Michigan people seem to be hoping against hope on Brewster and Adams...while I don't believe in silent verbals anymore, there is no reason to think (after reading this or any other update) that Michael is going anywhere but OSU. I think he will be someone to do a little recruiting for OSU sooner rather than later. :wink2:

From the Florida site...Brewster has trimmed his list to Ohio State, Michigan, Florida, USC, Georgia, and Oklahoma. OSU will likely make the top 3 and he also mentions Adams and Long.

What are the chances of an 2007 day-after-NLOID commit?

Not good with regards to Brewster. He is planning on narrowing things down to 5 in the Spring and originally planned on announcing at next year's AA game, although I think he has recently stated that a decision could come as early as this Summer although he may not go public with it until after taking his 5 officials in the Fall.

FWIW, he will be here for the Pro Day in March.

Sometimes those plans change though... Don't know if they will here, but he has been moving his estimated decision time up earlier and earlier... If Adams jumps on board early, I don't expect Michael to be too far behind (IMO of course)...

I certainly think the situation is fluid...and 22 is right, he has progressively moved his timetable up. If Adams pulls the trigger early as many expect, Brewster could follow suit.
