OL Steve Rehring (official thread)

Some good news from JT's press conf today. From BN...

OSU linebacker Bobby Carpenter was seen with his arm in a sling following Saturday's game against Iowa, while offensive lineman Steve Rehring was in the hospital and missed the game completely. Tressel talked about the status of each player, neither of whom appear to have any serious ailments.
"Bobby's just fine," Tressel said. "Steve is still in the hospital fighting an infection, but he's going to be fine. He was in all weekend and I would think will be in a good bit of this week, but we're hopeful that he will be out soon."

I didnt leak any of that....... all I said is keep him in your thoughts after AJ Trap. said he and the rest of the team were keeping him in their thoughts (on the Conley Sunday morning show). I said nothing about his condition or what was wrong.

From the OZONE

The Ohio State University has released the following information concerning the health of sophomore offensive lineman Steve Rehring: Ohio State offensive lineman Steve Rehring remains hospitalized at University Hospitals where he is recovering from pneumonia. The 6-8, 318-pound native of West Chester, Ohio in suburban Cincinnati was admitted last Thursday.
“I am feeling much better,” said Rehring. “I have had wonderful care here and want to thank everyone for all that they have done for me. Now, I am looking forward to being released and getting back to my normal routine as soon as possible.”

He should take off the rest of the season and apply for the medical redshirt down the road. It'll take him 6-8 weeks to get back into any sort of game shape and the season will be just about done then.

We will have to see. The kid would play with a 2X4 taped to his leg if he would ever break it in a game.

I love the desire (I wish everyone played with tha kind of dedication and effort), but I hope Steve does what's best for him long term. If he can make it back to 100% and still help the team towards the end of the year, great...but if not, I'm sure this will be the sort of added motivation that will burn in his heart all off season. Glad to here his condition has improved. Good luck to him getting back in football shape.
