Old Broken TV- How do I get rid of it?

We have an old 27 inch tv that stopped working last week and I'm trying to figure out how to get rid of it. I'm guessing that it isn't as simple as putting it out with the trash. If worst comes to worst I'll just find a dumpster and toss it. Any ideas?

Make it into one of these:
