On The Bus With Jason Gwaltney

Earlier today, BuckeyePlanet was fortunate enough to step on the after school bus with Jason Gwaltney and pick his brain for a few minutes. Ok, we were only talking by cell phone, but we did get a chance to ask him some questions as he rode along the Long Island roads on his way home from school.

Jason is a soon to be 5 star running back from New York that recently competed in the 2005 Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio. He has narrowed his final decisions on where to attend college to: USC, Ohio State and West Virginia.

Recently word has spread that Boston College is also in the mix, but Jason said that he “is only thinking about going to (visit) BC” and he is not sure if he will actually take the official visit.

Gwaltney said that USC Head Coach Pete Carrol is going to be making an in home visit with him on Wednesday and that Ohio State Head Coach Jim Tressel was in before he left for the Army AA game. Regarding Jim Tressel, he said, “He’s a good guy…for real...it was the best visit I have had.”

When asked his thoughts about the recruiting process, Jason said, “I don’t like that it is so stressful, but I have met lots of new guys.”

Jason says he had been placed on a special diet during this past season because, “I was eating a lot of junk food and eating real bad.” He said that since he has been on the diet he has been, “better on the field, and in better shape…a couple of times before I wasn’t on the field (cramps) to get it taken care of when it needed to be done.” He added, “now before I go to sleep I eat PBJ on wheat or chicken or turkey.”

Jason is set to announce his final decision to the nation on February 1st, and fans from the east coast to the west coast will be anxiously awaiting his choice.
