Oregon will come away clean. They're becoming a media darling much like USC was early in the 2000's

And how did being a media darling work out for USC?

I have no idea whether Oregon will skate or not; but I strongly suspect Phil Knight's influence far outweighs their "media darling" status on the list of reasons why they might. Unfortunately, there is no way to neatly separate the Nike Factor from the ESPN Factor.

Looks like Oregon was ready to move on when Chip had one foot out the door.

CBS.Dodd

Did Oregon replace Chip Kelly this week?

Mark Helfrich would have made a fine head coach at Oregon.

So fine, that some think the Ducks? 38-year old offensive coordinator could put the title on his job history. Right now. ProFootballTalk.com reported Thursday that Helfrich had indeed been given the job - if only momentarily -- when Chip Kelly reportedly went to Tampa Bay.

Oregon released the "Draft" of their response to the NCAA. It's obliterated, not "redacted"... whole paragraphs are simply not there.

Minimum; They paid over $40K to at least three "non sanctioned" recruiting services, and had one more coach than was permissible on the recruiting trail (some speculate that this is a reference to Lyles' role- that it transcended "advisor" and bumped up to "coach" due to the amount of money received).

Oh, and they refer to FERPA, which means that ESPN is surely headed to Eugene.

The draft of the NCAA proposed findings will be made public. However, the NCAA draft document (and we want to stress this is merely a draft) contains student information protected by law under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act and other information protected under Oregon Revised Statutes and Oregon Administrative Rules that legally must be redacted. The University of Oregon remains committed to holding itself and individuals associated with the University accountable to the highest standards.

FWIW, I heard on the radio today that this has since been determined as someone who was actually a part of the athletic staff and not Lyles.

On a more introspective note, it's interesting to me that the school and the NCAA agree that the school violated recruiting rules from 2008-2011. That's quite a bit o' time. Could be a shit load of student-athletes involved during a time so large as well as the amount of redaction.

They'll be made to vacate their Rose Bowl loss to Ohio State and everybody will move on.

Re: The documents state that the scope and nature of the violations "demonstrate that the athletics department failed to adequately monitor the football program's use of recruiting or scouting services."

OK, "failure to monitor", let's see if they end up with at least a 1 year "bowl ban".

Personally I think it should be much worse. Tats don't give you a competitive edge..recruiting does.

Yeah but tats get you some nice skanks which leads to stress relief which leads to more relaxed play on the field. See how that worked out? Competitive advantage indeed!
