Oregon State Beavers (official thread)

ScriptOhio

Everybody is somebody else's weirdo.
In texts, Gary Andersen throws assistants under the bus, backs up a few times

Gary Andersen knew Oregon State was bad this season. The Beavers were 1-5, their one win a 35-32 squeaker over FCS Portland State and their five losses by an average of more than 31 points.

Who did Andersen blame for Oregon State being bad? Well, himself, in a round about way. He blamed himself because, in a series of texts he sent to The Oregonian columnist John Canzano, his assistants were awful.

In what reads like a series of diary posts, the foul-mouthed Andersen accused his assistants of being in it for themselves (while he was in it for the kids, of course) and that they would need to find new jobs soon.

A sampling:

Andersen (Sept. 20): “I hired the wrong (expletive) guys and are still working our way through a bunch of recruiting years that stunk!! It’s year three! If these (expletives) can’t get it right I will not just say fire them and start over!! That’s not the way to go about it. If I (expletive) it up that bad I will take the bullet and ride off into the sunset! I will stay old school!! I will not die doing this (expletive)!! Stay tuned!”

Andersen (Sept. 30): “That’s my best shot!! I will give it that again next week!! That offense is embarrassing!! On me I hired the (expletives)!”

LOOK: Oregon State unveils turnover chainsaw to join the defensive prop party

Yes, that headline says 'turnover chainsaw'

I've found myself growing weary of the turnover props this season. It was a great idea when Miami busted out the Turnover Chain last season, but as is the case with a lot of things, when everybody starts doing it, the novelty wears off quickly.

But not all of them are bad. In fact, some of the props are quite good. For instance, Oregon State has a turnover chainsaw.

Get it? Because they're the Beavers and Beavers chew down trees and build their homes out of them. Well, the players aren't actual beavers, so they can't chew through trees -- four out of five dentists do not recommend it, and that fifth dentist has been locked up for insurance fraud before -- and instead must use chainsaws.

What would be even better is if Oregon State kept all the footballs from each individual turnover and built a Beaver Turnover Dam out of them on campus.

On one hand, this wont end well.
On the other, it's Oregon State so they'll rarely see it anyway.

On the other...wait...where's the other hand? It's in the Gatorade cooler because you have a chainsaw on the sideline.

But seriously, as far as turnover gimmicks go, this may actually be my favorite. At the very least it's magnitudes better than the backpack and the trashcan.
