Game Thread Oregon State @ Ohio State - 09/01/18, 12:00PM (ABC)

Saw a pair of Merlin, few Kestrel (bird on cover), assorted Warblers, king fishers, cedar waxwings and was lucky to see some Black back woodpeckers. Also fed a baby red squirrel an acorn. I like bird watching. There. I said it.

Not a damn thing wrong with that! I've never gotten far enough north for the black-backed. We're just starting to get our first waves of migration fired up here in Columbus. Mostly shorebirds so far, but the rest should start coming through soon

Nice. I'm at Fort Drum NY near St Lawrence Seaway/Lake Ontario. Huge birding area. Broad-wing Hawk migration saw 10,000+ in a few hours. Blacked out the sky. Was impressive. Enough nerd talk. Beaver needs skinning shortly. Plus it's done raining, time to go walk the corn fields looking for arrow heads (Nnnnnneeeeerrrdddd)

Yeah, I checked your location because I didn't even know where to find a black-backed.

The hawks sounds awesome. We keep talking about getting out to Hawk Mountain in PA for the fall raptor migration, but haven't done it yet.
