Orlas King "Neutron Man" passed away today

RIP

I hope the band plays The Neutron Dance one last time at the game sat, then it should be retired.

Actually, they need to keep it going. Should TBDBITL quit playing Hang On Sloopy after all the members of The McCoys have passed away? I think not...

I remember my first game in the 'Shoe, wondering who the nut was dancing in B-deck. I quickly learned just what type of nut he was - a Buckeye through and through.

Somehow, I am quite sure that the tradition will live.

RIP, Orlas.

When I was a little girl we met him outside the Shoe. He gave me my first Buckeye necklace. I don't remember a whole lot about the conversation, it was probably 20 years ago but I remember him putting the necklace on me and telling me to always be a buckeye. It was pretty cool then, and the memory of it is still way cool.

My heart goes out to his family and to all of those within the Buckeye Nation. We lost one of the greatest fixtures in Buckeye Football today. RIP.:groove: (not quite like his dance but a nice reminder anyway.)

I keep reading this...and it makes me sadder each time...I remember the first time I saw him up close when I was younger...and I was so excited, cuz I always saw him dance from far away. I felt like I had just met someone really special...and I didn't even know him. It was like when I first met Brutis as a kid...or back when a game wasn't in doubt, and my dad would take me down to walk around the track by the Buckeye bench before the game was over...just getting so close to these huge giant players...even though everyone looked huge then. All these things are just...really really special. They make Ohio State football...a lot more than just football...and that's what non-Ohio State fans don't understand about our passion for the Buckeyes. The Neutron Man was one of those special things. One of those things that only made our passion for Ohio State even greater. Hopefully storys of the dancing Neutron Man continue to be told to future Buckeye generations to come.

RIP to the man who clearly added one of the most unique aspects to the college football experience anywhere in the country. Guys like him are what help make a college football game the greatest family experience in all of entertainment. RIP to the man, and condolences to his family.

8 hours before the NW game last week, I interred my grandmother to ground. I was pretty tore up and cried a few times during the game. Little did I know the game would give me nightmares, not the funeral.

This week, at the stadium, I may just start crying again when I here Neutron Dance. Orlas was a great guy, a class act, and the ultimate Buckeye fanatic. I'm going to miss him.
